Olivia Wilde is once again (trying) to shut down any and all rumors of drama surrounding her highly anticipated movie, “Don’t Worry Darling.”
The actor and director of the film stopped by “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” on Thursday, September 21.
Of course, he was there to promote his film, but was also asked about the drama that hit him.

More specifically, she was asked about “Spitgate 2022” involving her boyfriends, Harry Styles and Chris Pine.
At the beginning of the month, ‘Spitgate’ was all the internet could talk about. It arose from a viral clip that appeared to show Styles spitting on Pine while taking his seat at the Venice Film Festival.
However, a rep for Pine clarified and said the rumors were all smoke and mirrors.
Olivia Insists “Spitegate” Is Not True!
A representative for Pine said Many peoplethe video creates unnecessary drama.
“This is a ridiculous story – a complete fabrication and the result of an outlandish online illusion that is clearly deceptive and allows for foolish speculation,” the statement said. “Just to be clear, Harry Styles did it not spit on Chris Pine. There is nothing but respect between these two men and any suggestion otherwise is a blatant attempt to create drama that simply does not exist.”
Styles even joked about it during one of his last shows at Madison Square Garden.
“This is our 10th show at Madison Square Garden, it’s wonderful, wonderful, wonderful to be back here,” the British singer told her fans as she opened the show. “I just came to Venice to spit on Chris Pine but never fear, we’re back!”

Apparently Pine’s statement and Styles’ banter weren’t enough to quell the rumors, so Wilde addressed it with Colbert.
Olivia Shuts Down Florence Pugh Feud Rumors
“Let’s go to another question that you don’t have to answer. People say you clashed with Florence Pugh. Is there anything you want to say about that?” Colbert asked.
“No. The only thing I want to say is another of our strange rumours, ‘Spitgate,’ which you may have heard about…” he said.
One person on Twitter disagreed with Wilde’s answer and accused him of gaslighting.
“To be more specific, he lit the gas. There are many receipts that contradict what he claims, including *his own words*. He keeps mixing up his stories. Many female directors are not asked this. Olivia is so deviant,” one person tweeted.
Wilde Accused Of Gaslighting & U-turning
“Did Harry Styles spit on Chris Pine?” The show’s lawyers continue to investigate.
“He’s not. But I think it’s a perfect example that people will find drama wherever they can,” explained Wilde. “Harry didn’t spit on Chris, actually. No, he really wasn’t.
“So there’s no tension between you and Florence Pugh?” Colbert continued.
Wilde immediately replied, “I have no respect for Florence’s talent. He is great. He’s on the set of his movie, ‘Dune,’ right now and there’s nothing better than the busy cast. I have nothing against him for any reason.”

She also stated that she doesn’t think her male director colleagues are questioned about their actors or answer questions about their actors.
The premiere of “Don’t Worry Darling” has received mixed reviews.
Some people really like it while others call it “predictable.”
Florence’s performance was well received while Styles’ performance was called subpar.
“So this is an #IMAX LIVE fan event and 90% of the people in my theater scream when #HarryStyles comes on. They mixed jeers with cheers when #FlorencePugh came on. #OliviaWilde is getting mocked. Oh man… this was a VERY interesting experience,” wrote ‘Outlaw Nation’ host John Rocha.
