Former One Direction star Liam Payne recently celebrated his 100 days of sobriety. The musician shared that his battle with alcoholism began several years ago while he was still in the band.
In June 2021, Payne revealed she often experiences “severe” suicidal thoughts and mental health issues. Now, the singer is focusing on his future and announced that he is working on an album and wants to tour.

Liam Payne recently attended the KSI vs. Joe Fournier in London and spoke to iFL TV about his sobriety journey. The One Direction alum revealed that he is marking his 100th day of sobriety and “feels incredible” about the milestone.
He said, per E! News, “I feel very, very good, and the support from the fans and everything has been very, very good. So, I’m very happy.” During a 2021 interview on “The Diary of a CEO,” Payne also discussed his journey to sobriety.
She said, “Until I saw myself afterwards I was like, ‘Okay, I’ve got to fix myself. It’s like some picture of me on a boat and I’m all, like, bloated, and I call it the pill-and-booze face … My face was like 10 times bigger than it is now. And I just didn’t like myself, so I made a change.”
His Battle With Addiction Began Long Ago

Payne also revealed that he began his struggle with alcoholism while in One Direction. He said, “The problems we have in the band—and I don’t blame anyone for this. I don’t want to look like I’m whining or moaning, ‘Oh god, look at my life’ or whatever. But I think, when we were in that group, the best way to secure us, because of how big it was, was to lock us in a room. And, of course, what’s in the room? A mini bar.”
The “Bedroom Floor” singer also said that her habit of turning to minibars “seems to be constant throughout the years of my life.” Payne stated that when he thought about how long he had been a drinker, he knew that it was “a long time” and that “it was wild.”
During a 2021 interview with Steven Bartlett on the “Diary of a CEO” podcast, Payne revealed that he experienced “severe” suicidal thoughts. When asked if she had “suicidal moments,” the singer said, “Yes. There must be some things I never talk about. It was really bad.”

During his conversation with iFL TV, Payne also revealed that his focus is on the future, which means new music. He said, “I’ve made an album for a change, which is quite fun. It’s good.”
Payne talked about being excited to release her new music and said she “definitely wants to tour.” He went on to say, “Because I’m not sure I’ll be visiting for a long time. I kind of got over it for a while. But I’m really excited to get back on the road and go see all the fans and get it. It’s going to be fun.”

Payne revealed his 100 days of sobriety came shortly after breaking up with girlfriend Kate Cassidy. The former couple live together at her home in London, but Kate has since moved back in with her family in America. Sources have claimed that there is no bad blood between Payne and Kate and that they “mutually” decided to separate.
An insider told Matahari Magazine, “There was no big argument or anything – it just went smoothly and they both decided to go their separate ways. Liam knows it’s the right decision, he’s poured himself into his music and all year he’s been full of work.”
Payne and Kate were last seen together in April this year when they attended the PrettyLittleThing showroom launch. The two went public with their romance in October last year and made their red carpet debut at the British Fashion Awards that year.
