Oprah Winfrey has described the salary she received for the 1985 adaptation of Alice Walker’s “The Color Purple” as the best and most meaningful she has ever received.
Despite her modest salary, the millionaire talk show host can’t ignore the impact of playing the iconic role of Sofia in the ’80s film as she revealed that it “changed everything.”

Despite appearing in various films, Oprah’s standout film was “The Color Purple”, which was the perfect step towards achieving her lifelong goal of starring in movies.
She earned an Oscar nomination for her supporting actress performance, and now, as part of the musical “The Color Purple,” she has a chance to earn another Oscar nomination if the film wins Best Picture.
The “Native Son” actor, who serves as an executive producer on the upcoming film adaptation of the musical, participated in a roundtable discussion with the film’s lead actors for an Essence cover story.

During the candid conversation, co-star Danielle Brooks expressed her gratitude to the 69-year-old for “making room for me [on set] but also being there, to hold my hand and answer that phone call when I need you.”
In response, Oprah thanked the entire cast and expressed her personal joy and appreciation for her role in the film. In the words of a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences:
“I can’t begin to tell you what that means to me — someone who wants nothing more in my life than to be in ‘The Color Purple.’ And God taught me to give up – that was a big lesson for me. They only offered me $35,000 to be in this movie, and it was the best $35,000 I ever got. It changed everything and taught me a lot. It is God who moves in my life.”
Later during the interview, the media mogul shared his appreciation for the cast members, including HER, Taraji P. Henson, and Fantasia Barrino, who sat with him and Brooks. He said:
“To have all of you beautiful black women bear witness to that story, as the story moves forward, means a lot. I believe that what Fantasia says is true: Everyone who comes to see our film will be touched. They will be moved. And they will be healed.”

The founder of the Oprah Winfrey Network apparently skipped her longtime lover, named Stedman Graham, listing bestie Gayle King, journalist Maria Shriver, and former American football coach Bob Green. Spilling the tea about how he and Shriver met, Chairman and CEO of Harpo Productions said:
“I first met him in the bathroom [while working at] WJZ-TV in the early morning. I came to do the morning cut and he did it [an] evening magazine and had been up all night. [She] was in the bathroom, literally, splashing water in his face, and we started a conversation.”
Despite the casual circumstances of their initial meeting, Oprah was convinced that their friendship had been arranged by God. As he revealed, “I’ve always thought that was, like, a divine moment that happened because he was one of my true, steadfast friendships that carried me through my career.”

“The funny thing is, even though I have a very close relationship with my mother, I wasn’t brought up, brought up that way, right? And [Oprah] not brought up in his own way. But I think, in a way, we have become each other’s mothers.
