An eyewitness to the recent Chiefs’ Super Bowl parade incident shared his experience at X. He drew attention to Jackson’s bravery during the shooting, noting that the 23-year-old stood up to help a missing child.

“I don’t care what anyone else says but I have found a new respect for Jackson Mahomes,” user X declared and then added, “Ana and I got stuck hiding with him in Union Station by the train and he took care of a kid who lost his parents and helped him stay calm.”

His story of Jackson’s bravery sparked mixed reactions from other users, with some hailing him as a hero while others could not see past his sexual assault allegations. One supporter noted that the shooting exposed the media personality’s true character, writing:

“Know the true character of people in trouble, tragedy whatever you want to call it..one can learn from mistakes and hopefully he has..a lot of great things happened between all the chaos yesterday..gives us all hope . “

Another echoed similar sentiments, tweeting, “You hide with Jackson Mahomes during a crisis situation and he helps take care of a child?! That was so unexpected and touching. It shows that even people who have a reputation for being a certain way can surprise us with their actions.”

“You mean someone you don’t know is good despite how other people tell you how they feel about that person? Who would have thought,” wrote a third, seemingly referring to Jackson’s alleged sexual assault.

However, critics didn’t share the same love, with one insisting: “He’s sexually assaulting someone so those who don’t think it’s ok are vile? Ooohkay.” Another disgruntled X user added:

“How can someone change their mind on what is clearly a daytime sexual assault? Oh, here’s a hint: ??? he did something very noble and it should be acknowledged but just because he did a very good thing doesn’t somehow excuse him from his past behavior.”

A third shared an interesting POV about Jackson’s character, stating, “A lot of people don’t like him. For a good cause, but to step up & do something thoughtful in a scary situation like this deserves respect.”

“That doesn’t mean he’s a good person overall. Hopefully, he will learn from this & grow as a person. He is too young to change,” they concluded.

Meanwhile, Brittany broke her silence on her Instagram Story with the message: “Shooting is not the answer. Praying for Kansas City & America in general, this is tough.” Fellow Kansas City Chiefs player Drue Tranquill echoed similar sentiments, tweeting:

“Please join me in praying for all the victims of this heinous act. Pray that the doctors & first responders have a steady hand & all will experience a full recovery.”

Prayer is needed, given the scale of the mass shooting that occurred at the Super Bowl parade on February 14. Kansas City Police Chief Stacey Graces opened up about the incident at a news conference, saying shots were fired near Union Station.

A bullet exploded shortly after the Chiefs players left the stage, killing one person and injuring several others. The number of shooting victims was initially believed to be fifteen, but Kansas City Fire Department Chief Ross Grundyson confirmed the number had risen.

Grundyson said in a press conference that there were “a total of 22 gunshot victims, one of them fatal. We have eight with what we consider to be a life-threatening patient, we have seven with life-threatening injuries, and we have six with minor injuries.”
