Peta Murgatroyd, her husband, Maksim Chmerkovskiy, and their son Shai are closing out April with a big pregnancy gender reveal, and fans are sure to be excited!
After experiencing three miscarriages between 2020 and 2021, the couple confirmed they were expecting their second child earlier this year. Such exciting revelations naturally bring anticipation to find out the gender of the unborn child, and it’s no different for Murgatroyd and Chmerkovskiy, who are equally eager to learn.
So on April 27, when the two past “Dancing With the Stars” winners thought it was the right time, they took to social media to announce the gender of their second child.

The pro-dancing couple, who are now expecting another baby, revealed the gender in a joint post shared on Instagram. They both put on a mini show to accompany the big announcement.
The video, in which the attractive couple are seen dancing together in all-black ensembles, also shows their six-year-old son stepping into the frame of the clip with a piece of paper with the word “boy” written on it.
“It is……[three blue heart emojis],” Murgatroyd captioned the footage of the gender reveal. The lengthy message continued, “The Chmerkovskiys are creating their soccer team LOL! We are so happy Shai is getting a little brother and can’t wait to meet this little guy.”
The two-time Mirrorball Cup winner then gave an update on their unborn child. “He’s already quite big ? and likes to kick mummy’s ribs all night!”
She insists that the baby is also “completely healthy” and quips that her house will be “FULL of boys,” including the family dog Hachi. Finally, the doting mom added, “I guess this means we have to try for baby number 3 to get the girl.”
Of course, after the announcement, the couple’s Instagram post was filled with comments from fans and fellow “DWTS” pros sharing their excitement over the news. Their mother-in-law, Jenna Johnso, led the group and wrote, “Bff Rom coming soon!!!!”
Lindsay Arnold added, “My baby girl can’t wait for her little boyfriend + dance partner!” Nikki Garcia wrote, “Awww yay!! I’m so sorry!!” A large number of fans also sent their congratulations.
The gender reveal came after the two posted a clip to get fans excited about Thursday’s reveal the day before. According to The Blast, they filmed themselves performing a stylish dance as they often do.
In the video, the expectant mother wears a cream-colored onesie with pockets on the front, while the father of her children wears a white shirt with black pants and a face covering. The caption of the post read:
“We’re about to have a baby… And everyone’s asking about the gender…” Additionally, they directed viewers, writing, “If you think it’s a boy comment with [blue heart emoji]and, if you think it’s a girl comment with a [pink heart emoji].”

Before the gender reveal of their second child, The Blast reported how the Australian ballroom dancer and her partner danced together in the sweet clip. The 36-year-old expectant mother, in the video, wore a cream top that showed off her ample cleavage along with baggy polyester pants and black sneakers.
She parted her thick blonde hair down the middle, allowing the strands to fall freely over her slender shoulders. Chmerkovskiy, also seen, wore a black T-shirt with orange lettering, dark pants and a teal hat.
While performing a synchronized routine, the pair squeeze their waists and twist their stomachs. The upload had a long caption that read:
“Oh we’re in it! Finally!!!
