Pete Davidson Calls S.I. Ferry Purchase ‘Lifelong Problem For Me And Colin’

It sounded like perfect comedy drama when Pete Davidson and Colin Jost announced they were buying a Staten Island Ferry last year. But this is no joke – they actually bought a Staten Island Ferry!

Davidson recently revealed their plans for the ferry, which he called “the problem of a lifetime for me and Colin” while on Seth and Josh Meyers’ podcast, “Family Travel with the Meyers Brothers.”

When the topic of the odd purchase entered the chat, Davidson, 29, jokingly said what we were all thinking, “That’s true?” But then offers some very interesting updates to the ferry saga.

“So we just got all the plans done and we had them do one of those computer generated, show you what kind of things can be and now we’ve got some people and it looks like everything’s going well, but it’s definitely like five years again,” he said to the Meyers brothers.

“We want to be able to anchor it from April to September or maybe October in New York and it will be like a restaurant, it will be a concert venue, it will be a movie theater, upstairs like a kind of restaurant area. and then there’s the hotel. And in the winter, pull up to Miami.”

The “Bupkis” star explained that Jost has taken over much of the planning and worries about what’s next for the big ferry boat.

“We are in a hole. Colin called me like, ‘Hey, can you use this call about the ferry?’ I was like, ‘We’re still doing that?’ He was like, ‘Yeah, this is pretty serious,’” she explained.

“And actually, I don’t know, I just looked at the link and sent a deposit and now I’m stuck with an af***ing bot. It’s really funny, man.”

They jokingly named the boat Titanic 2 in LLC when the purchase was made, but they had plans to keep it the same as it had been while they built their floating dream.

“Everything will remain the same,” he said. “It’s the same outside, keep what we can and reuse, make sure it’s nice, but it’s going to be the Staten Island Ferry.”

The “King of Staten Island” actor also explained that they bought the “biggest ferry” of the bunch.

“It’s a lot bigger than the others,” he said. “I’m happy because it’s not like it was thrown away. It’s kind of funny that this is going to be a lifetime problem for me and Colin.”

Pete Davidson Jokes About Last Month’s Ferry Purchase

Just last month, Davidson joked about the ferry with ET’s Will Marfuggi, who asked if there would be an afterparty on the boat.

“Yes, if it doesn’t sink!” Davidson joked. “I don’t know what happened with that. Colin and I were very stoned a year ago and bought a ferry. And we are thinking about it.”

Sounds like the perfect plot for a comedy, but the “Saturday Night Live” alums are serious about this off-the-wall purchase, which they reportedly paid $280,000 for.

Back in January 2022, Davidson appeared during a “Weekend Update” segment with Jost to announce their new floating venture.

“Hey! We bought a ferry, a windowless sea van,” Davidson joked in the best way he could. Jost sarcastically added, “Yeah, it’s very exciting. We thought everything through.”
