Amy Davidson Sends Touching Tribute to Late Husband

Pete Davidson’s mother recently shared an emotional tribute to her late husband, Scott Davidson. Scott was a firefighter who died on September 11, 2001, during the terrorist attack on the World Trade Center in New York. Amy was among thousands of families paying tribute to their lost loved ones on the anniversary of the attack.

On Monday, September 11, Amy posted a few recent photos as a tribute to Scott on Instagram. The first photo is of the couple hugging each other tightly, and subsequent photos show Scott with his children, Pete and younger sister Casey. He also added a photo of the late firefighter’s work boots next to his picture.

Despite not mentioning anything about his father during a recent visit, Pete has talked about him and missing him several times over the years. During a March appearance on the “Real Ones with Jon Bernthal” podcast, the “Meet Cute” actor talked about that fateful day and how he learned of his father’s death.

He said, per Mirror, “My dad told me he was going to pick me up from school on 9/11. I was invited by my mother. He didn’t tell me what happened for three days. He kept telling me, ‘Daddy’s at work,’ ‘He’ll be home,’ whatever. I do not know.”

Pete shared with Bernthal that his mother kept him from going out or watching TV for days. Then, one day, he “turned on the TV and I just saw my dad on TV.” That’s how Pete found out about the attack on the World Trade Center. He added, “I was like, ‘Oh, OK.’ And they were like, these are all firefighters who, like, died.

How Loss Affected His Family

During the podcast interview, Pete talked about how “weird” the experience was for him and his family. He explained that they weren’t actually sure of Scott’s death “for, like, three weeks” as search and rescue continued into the World Trade ruins.

He said, “They’re looking for people, you know? They’ve pulled people out of shit, and there’s just kind of hope. Like, it’s just up and down and nobody knows how to deal with it.”

The “King of Staten Island” star later reflected on how much the loss made him appreciate his mother. He stated, “That’s why, as I got older, I was like, ‘Man, my mom is great.’ Pete also shared that losing Scott left him with abandonment issues, which he still struggles with.

He said, “You know, dad said he would come pick you up and he didn’t. All my life, I’ve been like, I don’t trust anybody, and I’m trying to learn how to trust people — and Hollywood is not the best place to learn that skill.”

Pete has been open about his neglect issues and struggles with borderline personality disorder and post-traumatic stress disorder. According to a Page Six reports earlier this year, the former “Saturday Night Live” star checked herself into rehab for treatment.

A source close to Pete spoke to the publication about his rehab stay. They said, “Pete regularly goes to rehab to ‘tune up’ and mentally rest, so that’s what happened.”

Another source said, “Anyone who knows Pete knows that he will always step up and get help when he knows he needs it. He has a lot of people in his corner who love him and support him, and are proud of him.”

The actor teased his rehab stay during a recent Atlantic City stop on the “Jon, John & Pete” tour with John Mulaney and Jon Stewart. During the show, he joked about having an “after recovery” for the audience.
