The plus-size influence that previously required airlines to cram larger passengers into extra seats is now asking hotels around the world to make a number of changes to better accommodate overweight guests — including by making aisles wider.
In a video posted to her TikTok last month, Jaelynn Chaney listed several ways hotels can create “size-inclusive” amenities.
She said she was “on a mission to revolutionize the travel industry, and make it a more accessible, accepting, accommodating place for all,” adding: “The needs of plus-size travelers are just as important as anyone else’s.”
“We deserve an environment that respects the needs and diversity of our bodies,” Chaney claimed.
Among his requests was to “make an elevator and a hallway [more] wide, to facilitate the movement of larger individuals, and those using mobility devices.”
Chaney also suggested hotels raise their toilet seats and retrofit every room with a handheld showerhead so larger people can wash themselves more easily.

“Hotel should provide bathrooms that include size,” he said in the video. “This should increase to size 6X and beyond.”
Additionally, Chaney said hotels should install handrails in pools and invest in sturdier, wider chairs for lounges and poolside so larger people can relax in peace.
And, he said, hotels need to “train staff to respect, understand and accept travelers of all sizes.”
In the caption, Chaney wrote: “Creating a space where every guest feels valued and comfortable is important.
“A size-inclusive hotel facility is more than just accommodation — it’s a statement of respect for diverse needs and body types,” he continued.
“From spacious chairs to clever bathroom amenities, every detail counts,” he wrote. “Let’s make travel truly accessible and welcoming to travelers of all sizes and abilities.”
But Chaney’s claim was met with mixed reviews online.
“I agree this is ideal, but some of this is out of the hotel’s control – for example the size of the lift,” wrote one, using the English term for lift.
Another TikTok user, however, commented: “I support you 100%.”
Others were harsher in their view of Chaney’s claims, with one woman asking: “How are you going to ask things to change, but refuse to change yourself?”
Another suggested, “It is [would] cheaper to diet.
“I’m fat and I won’t let airlines or hotels pay for my eating habits,” she wrote, while one male user said Chaney was “entitled” to make this claim.

“Imagine feeling so entitled to demand that an entire industry accommodate your inability to put down a fork,” he wrote, calling it “wild.”
Chaney labels herself the creator of “Plus Size Travel, Fashion & Lifestyle” and has more than 134,000 followers on TikTok.
