Venus Williams Shuts Down Reporters’ Attempts To Incriminate Her With Sister Serena

The athletic duo have long been the subject of comparisons despite their incredible careers and inspiring legacies. The Blast shared that during an interview at Wimbledon, a reporter tried to pit Venus against her younger sister.

After completing their mixed doubles first round, the 1997 WTA Newcomer of the Year and Jamie Murray faced a barrage of questions during the post-match press conference.

A reporter asked if their goal was to win or get past the third round, where their siblings Serena and Andy Murray had been knocked out three years earlier. The seven-time Grand Slam winner sarcastically replied, “What kind of question is that?” adding, “We’re in it for the ride. Come on.”

When the reporter persisted and asked if he was just there for the experience, he replied, “Are you going to write a good article or just a good article?” He replied, “I’ll do what I usually do,” to which Venus firmly stated, “So do we.”
