Despite rumors, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle know how to joke!
Since stepping back from their royal duties and moving to the US, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been shrouded in controversy. From their alleged problems with the royal family to their relocation, the couple regularly make headlines for their attention.
However, the couple recently fell victim to fake news. Days after reports claimed the couple would sue the animated sitcom “South Park” for parody, a spokesperson for the couple said otherwise.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Not Taking Legal Action Against ‘South Park’

One of the tricks of being a celebrity is fighting to protect your privacy from the endless curiosity of the public. To meet the high demand for interesting news, A-listers regularly have their boundaries tested by the paparazzi, or they are subjected to jokes for the entertainment of fans.
When “South Park” premiered a new episode on Feb. 15, titled “Worldwide Privacy Tour,” they approached the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. The plot follows the “Prince of Canada” and his wife moving to a fictional Colorado town.
The characters’ uncanny resemblance to royals is unmistakable, from the prince’s red hair and beard to his wife’s pink dress, which matched Meghan’s outfit at the 2018 Trooping the Colour. As depicted in the episode’s title, the fictional couple goes on a world tour holding “we want our privacy” and “stop looking at us” signs.
This may be a reference to the couple’s 2021 viral interview with Oprah Winfrey, in which the “SUITS” actress opened up about the media’s invasion of her family’s privacy. Addressing the situation, Meghan said, “I think everyone has a basic right to privacy. Basic. We don’t talk about anything that other people don’t expect.”
Also, the “Worldwide Privacy Tour” story criticizes Meghan’s fictional character. The 2D avatar was described as a “girlie, actress, influencer and victim” by the fictional talk show host, who also called her an “Instagram-loving b**ch wife.” The cartoon prince defended his wife claiming the couple just wanted their privacy.
Given the parody of their lives in the animated sitcom, it’s easy to believe that the couple might sue the show’s cast for making fun of them. However, representatives of the royal family recently announced the couple’s stance.
“Frankly this is all nonsense. A baseless and boring report,” the spokesperson told People Magazine. So why did rumors of a lawsuit begin to circulate? According to reports, several sources claim the show has marked the Duchess of Sussex.
Insiders claimed the former actress was “upset and overwhelmed” by the episode, while royal commentator Neil Sean added fuel to these claims. The reporter noted that the couple planned to involve their legal team in the situation instead of “laughing it off.”
“Their legal team is reviewing the episode to see what went wrong, and what could have turned into something more sinister. This seems to be their act of laughing it off, enjoying the moment, and showing the world that they get the joke,” Sean said.
In defense of the “South Park” creators, the controversial episode has a disclaimer stating that all the characters are fictional, even though they are based on real people.
Although the couple is keen to protect their privacy, they seem to be putting themselves in the spotlight. Prince Harry recently released a memoir, “Spare,” detailing his royal upbringing, and the couple is releasing a Netflix documentary about their lives in 2022. Meghan also has a podcast titled “Archetypes.”
The Duchess of Sussex Almost Had a Court Battle With Her Sister

The South Park scandal comes amid a legal battle between Meghan and her half-sister Samantha Markle. The Blast previously reported that the expected case between the Markle siblings officially began in February when Samantha claimed the Duchess defamed her to gain sympathy with her “rags to riches” story.
The older sister filed a defamation suit in 2022, seeking $75,000 in damages for alleged lies her sister told in an Oprah Winfrey interview and her biography “Finding Freedom: Harry and Meghan and the Making of the Modern Royal Family.”
During a virtual court appearance with their legal team, Samantha’s lawyer Peter Ticktin claimed that the royal falsified her narrative and repeatedly continued to promote her “rags to riches” story despite her family providing for her.
Ticktin noted that the “Dater’s Handbook” star was caught lying about receiving a “scholarship” when his father paid for his education. The lawyer asked the court to find out why Meghan has consistently portrayed her family badly when they have done nothing wrong.
Meanwhile, Meghan’s lawyer argued for the dismissal of seven of the ten allegedly defamatory statements. The lawyer explained that the statement was from “Seeking Freedom,” a biography not written or published by his client.
