Prince Harry & Meghan Markle Slammed By Photo Agency After Asking For Footage Of Car Chase

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have asked a photo agency to hand over footage from their near-catastrophic car chase in New York.

The couple, who allegedly requested the footage to help improve their security, received a less-than-kind response from the agency. They insist that Harry and Markle have no right to ask because they are not entitled to such advantages in America.

Shortly after news of the car chase emerged, the paparazzi were criticized for putting Harry and Meghan’s lives in danger in a statement released by the couple’s representatives.

Per Page SixHarry and his wife Markle have asked photo agency Backgrid to hand over all “copies of all photos, videos and films” they took after the “near-disastrous car chase”.

The incident happened on Tuesday night when the couple was in New York City for an event.

“We are currently demanding that Backgrid immediately provide us with copies of all photos, videos and films taken last night by freelance photographers after the couple left their event and in the next few hours,” read a letter from the Sussexes through their lawyers.

It is claimed that the former royal requested the footage to increase their security, but surprisingly they were met with a scathing response from the photo agency.

Backgrid lawyers hit back at the Sussexes, saying that “third parties can’t just claim it’s given to them” in America, unlike what they might have been used to as royals in Britain.

The photo agency continues to deny claims by the royal family that photographers from their agency have captured images of near misses involving them.

“According to the photographers present, there were no near misses or near misses during this incident,” Backgrid USA told the publication.

The agency also stated that the Sussexes were never in “immediate danger at any time,” nor were they “pursued by extremely aggressive paparazzi.”

For photographers on location with the Sussexes, Backgrid states that it is their responsibility “to cover newsworthy events and personalities, including public figures such as Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.”

However, the company assured Prince Harry and Meghan that they would continue to look into the situation, although they were unclear as to how they would do so.

Markle’s mother was also involved in a “near fatal” car chase as she joined her daughter and son-in-law to attend the event in New York.

Reports state that the former actress’ mother is “frightened” by the shocking incident, which has also left the Sussexes upset.

Sources claim that the chase “started with 12 paparazzi, then ended with four chases. [Meghan, Harry, and Doria],” per Page Six.

It was also reported that the couple “security tried their best to lose [photographers]” and recorded some videos to use as evidence.

A statement released by Harry and Meghan’s representatives shortly after news of the car chase broke slammed the paparazzi for putting their lives at risk.

“The Duke and Duchess of Sussex and Ms. Ragland engaged in a near-catastrophic car chase at the hands of a very aggressive group of paparazzi,” read the statement, which claimed it lasted more than two hours.

It continued, “While being a public figure comes with a level of interest from the public, it shouldn’t be at the expense of anyone’s safety.”

The shocking incident came after the UK Home Office released a statement saying Harry would not be allowed to pay private police to provide security for his family.

The Duke and his wife have previously removed the security controls assigned to them after they stepped down as royals in 2020.
