Fans of pop star Britney Spears believe she may be throwing shade at Selena Gomez with new music announcements.
The “Toxic” singer revealed that she is working on a new single shortly after releasing her memoir, “The Woman In Me,” on Tuesday, October 24, 2023.

On Sunday morning, the Princess of Pop took to Instagram to tease some new music. “I wrote a new song!!! Hate you love me!!! No beef with anyone… just being a narcissist in a self-proclaimed and self-entitled way!!! It’s to gather interest by feeding the ego blindfolded because I heard important people do that today,” he wrote in the caption.
Given the wording of the post, fans believe that her hit song is called “Hate You To Like Me” which has the same title as Selena Gomez’s hit song “Lose You To Love Me.”

When one user suggested that Britney was “teasing” fans with a new song announcement, another netizen said, “No, I think she’s mocking the haters. However, Britney Spears has spoken positively about Justin Bieber and even danced to some of his songs in her Instagram videos. This only fueled speculation that Britney had beef with Selena for speaking positively about her ex. “The way Britney unfollowed Selena and since then she hasn’t stopped showing support and admiration for Justin left to right the queen knows who the villain of the story is,” claimed one user.

Britney seemed to reference Selena’s 2020 “Ice Cream” music video with Blackpink in an Instagram post at the time, writing:

As The Blast previously reported, Britney later backtracked in another Instagram post and insisted, “What I’m saying has nothing to do with anyone in particular at all … it’s obviously a subject that all women have to deal with.” He later said that he “honestly refers to my days when I was younger when I was grossly discriminated against.”
“If anyone knows what I’m feeling, I’m sure Selena has gone through something very similar… and what I’m honestly responding to is the Kelis MILKSHAKE video,” he added. “I apologize for my ignorance, but I didn’t see the video for Ice Cream that Selena Gomez, who I really respect and have a lot of respect for, did.”
