Prince Harry’s ‘HRH’ Title REMOVED From Royal Family Website Amid Updates

Prince Harry’s title of “His Highness” has been quietly removed from the royal family’s website, in line with the “Megxit” deal that allowed the Duke and his wife, Meghan Markle, to retain their HRH titles while inactive as royals. The focus of royal family websites has also shifted to other royals, keeping Harry and Meghan’s profile lower.

Meanwhile, Netflix recently acquired the film rights to the novel “Meet Me At The Lake” for an adaptation under Archewell Productions, marking Harry and Meghan’s first move in Hollywood since they lost their Spotify deal.

Prince Harry’s title of “His Highness” has been removed from the Royal Family’s website. Following the 2020 “Megxit” deal, the Palace allowed Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, to retain their HRH titles, which they cannot actively use as royals.

In apparent oblivion, certain sections of the website still referred to Harry as HRH for three years. Instead, HRH Meghan’s title was removed from her official royal biography three years ago, although it persists in some sections of the website, notably in excerpts of the 2019 speech.

The latest update, however, has fixed this and removed any HRH references. Other errors have also been corrected, including one that labeled 38-year-old Prince Harry as five-year-old Prince Louis.

In an announcement dated January 18, 2020, Buckingham Palace declared that the Sussexes would no longer use their HRH titles due to their departure from royal duties.

The section on the royal website outlining the background of the Royal Family now refers to Meghan as ‘she’ or ‘Duchess,’ rather than ‘Her Highness.’ Meghan’s education, career and royal engagements have been moved from her ‘about’ page to a dedicated biography section.

Additionally, details about his philanthropic efforts have also been moved to the ‘Charity Work’ segment. Per Express, the website layout now prioritizes the other royals on the main page, with Harry and Meghan’s profile pages moved to the bottom. However, the couple continue to hold the Sussex Dukedom and publicly use the titles Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

A spokesperson from Buckingham Palace stated that the website has been regularly updated following the passing of Queen Elizabeth II, and outdated information has been corrected. “Following the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the content has been reviewed and updated regularly. Some content may be out of date by the time this process is complete,” explained the spokesperson, per Daily Mail.

On Tuesday, Harry was all smiles as he walked through Tokyo’s Haneda Airport, mingling with fellow travelers. The Duke of Sussex wore a black shirt and hat displaying the logo of the Archewell Foundation he runs with Meghan, who was not present.

A reporter’s voice is heard off camera, asking about his return to Japan after four years. “How would you like to be in Japan for the first time in four years?” the reporter asked. Harry replied warmly, “See you soon.”

Prince Harry’s visit to Japan coincides with recent news that Netflix executives have acquired film rights to the romance novel under Harry and Meghan’s $100 million deal.

A novel by Carley Fortune, titled “Meet Me At The Lake,” resonates with their personal narrative, featuring themes such as loss and love.

Initial reports indicated that the couple personally bought the project for $3.8 million, but insiders revealed to Page Six that Netflix acquired the rights to the adaptation under the royal couple’s Archewell Productions.

The novel aligns with the Duke and Duchess’ affinity for romance, as seen in their acclaimed 2022 Netflix documentary “Harry & Meghan.” Additionally, the pair are said to be reorganizing their team following producer Ben Browning’s departure from Archewell Productions. Archewell’s senior vice president of scripted television, Nishika Kumble, has also reportedly departed after less than two years.

The new deal will mark an important Hollywood move for Harry and Meghan as they seek to strengthen their brand, especially after losing their $20 million deal with Spotify.
