Pro-Palestinians ambushed a Christmas community fundraiser for blind children in Australia as a stage for their anti-Israel activities.
The event, Vision Australia’s Carols by Candlelight, was attended by 10,000 people and was broadcast live on Channel 9 as the crowd booed.
Demonstrators raised Palestinian flags as they took to the stage and shouted about Gaza before being dragged away by security.
“Well, it’s the climate, isn’t it?” said a female host.
“It’s okay, everyone, we’re actually fine here. … Everyone is allowed to have their … time. … It’s a very difficult time in the world … There’s a lot of pain out there that people are going through,” another host said.
Israel has been at war since fighters from the Palestinian terror group Hamas crossed into the country from the Gaza Strip on October 7 and killed about 1,200 Israelis.
Some social media users on X had a different reaction.
Darren Grimes, a conservative commentator on GB News, said, “No. This moment is not theirs.”
“This behavior will not ‘Free Palestine,’ it is just shameful,” said pro-Israel activist Hen Mazzig.

“Carols by Candlelight is Vision Australia’s largest annual fundraiser for children’s services, with all proceeds from the event supporting services for families and children who are blind or partially sighted,” the program description says.
“Your donation directly contributes to Vision Australia’s children’s services and the Lively Ready Program. The program is designed to encourage and support the early childhood development and education of children and young people who are blind or have low vision, like Lucy, so that they can form a strong foundation for life, meaningful participation and lifelong employment, ” the Vision Australia website says.
Pro-Palestinian protesters have also caused disruption across the United States.
A large group of pro-Palestinian protesters in Chicago confronted lawmakers at their home on Saturday and temporarily shut down the interstate to express support for the Palestinians in Gaza.
