Proud Boys’ Ethan Nordean sentenced to 18 years for role in Capitol attack

WASHINGTON – A leader of the far-right Proud Boys was sentenced to 18 years in prison on Friday while another member got 10 years for their role in the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the US Capitol by Donald Trump supporters.

Ethan Nordean, one of the ringleaders, was sentenced to 18 years in prison, less than what prosecutors had asked for. Nordean was convicted of seditious conspiracy and other crimes.

“If we don’t have a peaceful transition of power in this country, we have nothing,” said US District Judge Timothy Kelly.
