Queen Elizabeth Wanted Harry & Meghan To Have Continued Protection, Letter Says

Queen Elizabeth II reportedly has Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s best interests at heart despite their decision to leave the royal family.

The former king of the British Empire never expected his grandson and his family’s security detail to be stopped following their move to the US in 2020. The late leader’s last words were recently revealed in a letter from the palace.

Queen Elizabeth’s letter became public after it was given as evidence in the High Court amid Harry’s libel claim against The Mail newspaper on Sunday.

Sir Edward Young wrote the late Queen’s thoughts on Harry and Meghan’s protection while serving as her private secretary. The letter stems from the couple’s decision to step down as working royals and leave the UK for a new life.

While the two’s choices have fueled speculation about a rift within the Royal Family, it seems the former Heads of the Commonwealth want their continued protection. “You will understand very well that keeping the Duke and Duchess of Sussex safe is of the utmost importance to Her Majesty and her family,” the letter read.

It continued, “Given the duke’s public profile for being born into a royal family, his military service, the duchess’s own independent profile, and the well-documented history of extremist targeting of the Sussex family, it is imperative that the family continue to be provided with effective security.”

The UK cabinet secretary, Sir Mark Sedwill, reportedly received the letter after the Queen’s Sandringham Summit in January 2020. Per the Sunday Times, when the royal family gathered at the Queen’s Sandringham country home, Norfolk, to discuss Prince Harry and Meghan’s future as unemployed royals.

The late Queen Elizabeth II’s words resurfaced amid her grandson’s ongoing libel claims as part of a three-day trial. Remember that the Duke of Sussex is suing Associated Newspapers Ltd (ANL), the publisher of the Daily Mail and Mail on Sunday, for defamation over article 2022 about its security arrangements.

However, this is not Prince Harry’s only legal drama, as he is fighting the Home Office for a security detail that was terminated after they reduced his and his family’s protection measures to a “case by case” basis.

The Royalties and Public Figures Protection Executive Committee (Ravec) is located under the Home Office.

During a recent hearing, Prince Harry, through his lawyer, dropped a shocking claim about his family moving to the US. In a written witness statement, the former working royal confirmed that she “felt compelled to step down from this role and leave the country in 2020.”

While the Army veteran did not share further details about who or what prompted his decision to leave, he focused on why he felt Ravec’s decision to cut his publicly funded security was “unlawful and unfair.” His statement reads:

“The UK is my home. The UK is central to my children’s heritage and a place where I want them to feel at home just as much as where they currently live in the US. That cannot happen if it is not possible to keep them safe when they are on UK soil.”

Prince Harry insisted that Ravec’s decision made him unwilling to risk the safety of himself and his family, adding: “I can’t put my wife in danger like that and, based on my experience in life, I refuse to put myself in danger either.”

Prince Harry & Meghan May Not Get a Warm Welcome During the Holidays

Before the Queen’s letter emerged, sources claimed the Sussexes may have had a better Christmas in the US than in the UK. Last month, this insider hinted that Prince Harry and his wife could receive cold treatment if they visited the royal family during the festive period.

A whistleblower slammed the couple’s warm advances and willingness to visit King Charles for the holiday season as “weird,” considering they haven’t seen the royal residence in years. “Which begs the question, why now,” the source wondered.

“Does this have anything to do with the fact that some of their commercial offerings, like Spotify, have fallen on deaf ears, and they have been subjected to ridicule in the US on shows like South Park and Family Guy?” continued the insider.

The insider didn’t hold back their thoughts on the Duke and Duchess, hinting they might realize that “complaining about how bad it is to be a member of the Royal Family, isn’t that a great strategy?”

Other reports say Prince Harry and Meghan have not accepted an invitation to spend Christmas with the royal family. The lack of invitations may stem from rumors of a rift in the family, with Prince William being part of a group that feels uncomfortable with the Sussexes’ presence.
