Quentin Tarantino has revealed the real story behind Kanye West claiming creative credit for “Django Unchained.”
The film’s director, who won an Oscar for Best Original Screenplay for the film in 2012, denied West’s claims during an appearance on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” on Friday.
Tarantino shared that the rapper pitched him an idea for a music video but the concept had absolutely nothing to do with the slave-themed film. The “Pulp Fiction” director also revealed that he had been thinking about the idea for “Django Unchained” for a long time before he met West in 2004.

During a recent guest appearance on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” the film’s award-winning director denied West’s claims of coming up with the idea for “Django Unchained.”
It comes after the rapper claimed in his “Piers Morgan Uncensored” interview that he had come up with the idea for the music video for his hit song “Gold digger.” Although they didn’t end up collaborating, the Donda singer claims that the film’s director took the concept and turned it into the narrative he used for “Django Unchained.”
“Well, nothing [sic] the truth that Kanye West came up with the idea of ’Django,’ Tarantino insists, per New York Post, “And then he told me, and I went, ‘Hey wow, that’s a really good idea. Let me take Kanye’s idea and make ‘Django Unchained’ out of it.’ That didn’t happen.”
The director explained to the audience that he had come up with the idea for the film before meeting West.

In his conversation with Kimmel, Tarantino did not elaborate on West’s other claim that “Django Unchained” star Jamie Foxx was involved in the act. The actress coincidentally appears in both the film and the final piece of the “Gold Digger” music video, as she previously collaborated with the rapper on the song.
The film’s director went on to talk about meeting West for the first time while the rapper was working on a feature film for his 2004 album “The College Dropout.” He revealed that the Yeezy founder actually discussed a “really funny” idea with him for a music video, possibly “Gold Digger,” but still unrelated to “Django Unchained.”
“He did have an idea for a video and I think it was for ‘Gold Digger,'” Tarantino said, adding that the concept the rapper pitched at the time was “really cool.”

Fans responded to a clip of Tarantino’s interview posted on Twitter, criticizing West for claiming credit for the concept of “Django Unchained.”
A fan said, “No. The slave motif for the music video is not the same as a spaghetti western about a slave taking revenge on his captors. You don’t own every movie idea about slaves just because you came up with one video idea involving slaves.”
On Instagram, fans took note, sparking conversations about the rapper’s mental health.
One follower wrote, “Kanye needs to go somewhere and sit down. In life, it’s not all about you. It’s not all about this guy. Enough of this nonsense and him.”
Another fan said, “Let’s stop paying attention to him for whatever reason. He really needs help!”
It’s Been A Week Of Big Losses For Kanye West

West’s outrageous and anti-Semitic remarks over the past few weeks have landed him in hot water, as seen by the decision of many sponsors to cut ties with him.
The rapper’s famous contract with French fashion label Balenciaga has been cancelled, and his image has also been taken down from their website. Additionally, Adidas, the German shoe juggernaut, confirmed earlier this week that they had severed their relationship with the rapper after previously saying their relationship with him was “under review.” The shocking news comes after West boasted that the brand could not drop him despite his “anti-semitic sh*t.”
Music agency CAA, which handles his tour, has also fired West. In the same vein, the MRC studio, which is responsible for the documentary about the West, said that the plan was abandoned even though the project was completed.
