According to singer Rebecca Black, her family was tricked into entering politics by a distant family friend. The artist rose to global fame in 2011 after releasing the critically-acclaimed music video for his song, “Friday.”
Black has released several other songs over the years and recently spoke about an incident that happened when he was younger. The 25-year-old revealed that as a teenager, a relative convinced his family to go to Mexico for a meet-and-greet session involving the city’s keys.
Instead of the promised meet and greet, the artist was taken to a different location and asked several questions supporting the then presidential candidate, Enrique Peña Nieto.

“Friday” artist Black revealed that when he was 14 years old, he was tricked, along with his mother, into supporting Nieto, the previous president of Mexico. The 25-year-old spoke about the decade-old incident on his TikTok, explaining that a “distant family relative” planned the whole situation.
In the video, which has been viewed nearly 2.4 million times, Black claims that at the time, he and his mother were asked to come to a “fan club from a small town in Mexico” for a meet and greet.
Both agree; however, when they make the trip, it is quite clear that the scenario described is a lie. The artist recalled, “They took us to this fancy house and then took us into a room full of men in suits.”

Black further explained that he and his mother, who moved to the US from Mexico, were escorted into a large room with about 20 people already seated. The occupants of the room reportedly had a microphone from them and continued to ask the 14-year-old and her mother about Mexican politics.
Black revealed that they also asked the mother-daughter duo what they thought about Mexican suffrage. Nieto, who was a presidential candidate at the time, was eventually brought into the conversation, and the artist was asked what he thought of it.

The 25-year-old explained that he was initially confused because he didn’t know who the person was; however, to avoid looking “stupid”, he tried to give an appropriate answer. The 25-year-old said, “I realized that my whole family was just tricked by this distant relative, who worked for his presidential campaign, to support the Mexican presidential candidate. And the world thought I had done it as a 14-year-old, and I never hearing about this man in my life.”

Black’s support appeared to have benefited Nieto’s campaign as the politician won that year’s election and became Mexico’s president. His tenure, however, had a large number of political issues that questioned his integrity.
The Ex-President He Unknowingly Confirmed Is Being Investigated For Money Laundering

In August of this year, Mexico’s attorney general’s office revealed that it had launched an investigation into the affairs of former president Nieto. The news comes weeks after a complaint against him was filed by the local anti-money laundering agency. The agency accused Nieto of money laundering and illegal enrichment.
Through a press release, the attorney general’s office said, “Based on the complaint filed by the treasury authorities, an investigation folder for money laundering and illegal international transfers has been established.”
The former president is suspected of receiving “at least three suspicious transfers” of more than 26 million pesos (US $1.3 million). The amount was reportedly deposited by a blood relative of the former president into an account in Spain, which coincidentally is the country Nieto moved to after his term ended.
Nieto is also being investigated for illegal enrichment, a complaint previously filed by an individual seeking to see the former president’s assets. In response to the accusations, Nieto announced that he expects the authorities to comply in allowing him to defend himself and explain the source of his wealth and assets.
