“We think this is just the tip of the iceberg. We think there’s a lot more crime,” Comer said on CNN Friday. “And my concern is that Weiss may have impeached Hunter Biden to protect him from impeachment on the House Oversight Committee.”

“Jake, this is all about disguises… You’re charging him with petty things, firearms charges, and not paying taxes.” Comer shoot back. “Anyone in America who is already in prison, is already in prison. You said he owes $2 million. He probably owes $7 or $8 million, if this loan is a bogus loan. I mean, a loan means you’re going to pay it back.”
Hunter’s team, however, seemed unhappy with the decision of Weiss, who they noted months ago was ready to let go of his eldest son on misdemeanor charges.

Hunter Biden’s lawyer, Abbe Lowell, said prosecutors only brought the new charges in response to “Republican pressure.”
“Now, after five years of investigating without new evidence — and two years after Hunter paid his taxes in full — the US Attorney has filed nine new charges when he agreed months ago to settle this matter with a pair of misdemeanors,” Lowell said in a statement.
