Republican Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds uses burner X account with only 259 followers to rail against Trump: report

Republican Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds appears to have used an obscure X account to heap praise on Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and express displeasure with former President Donald Trump, according to a report.

The account – @Kimberl26890376 – had “Kimberly Reynolds” listed as its username and a picture of the Iowa governor as its profile picture before it was suspended on Thursday, shortly after the New York Times reported on its existence.

The account had just 259 followers before it was removed, and does not link back to Reynolds’ official @IAGovernor account or his personal @KimReynoldsIA handle.

It made no reference in any of the tweets stating that the user appears to be the governor of the Hawkeye State.

Reynolds’ office did not respond to The Post’s request for comment.

The account’s username is “Kim Reynolds” and has a photo of the governor as a profile picture. AP

The majority of the @Kimberl26890376 account’s 58 posts have come in recent months, according to the Times, and are heavily related to the Republican presidential primary.

In one post, Reynolds appeared to have used his secret account to retweet a meme from a DeSantis supporter showing a side-by-side photo of the Florida governor smiling with his wife and three children next to one of Trump surrounded by young women at a New Year’s Eve party.

“The contrast is delightful…” the caption on the meme read.

Reynolds endorsed DeSantis for president last November. The account only has 259 followers.

In another retweet, Reynolds appeared to have shared a post accusing Trump of “lacking loyalty” but claiming “it’s from someone else.”

“That’s FEALTY. Which makes sense because these people want a king,” the post continued.

The account also followed former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, who polled about even with DeSantis in Iowa, according to the RealClearPolitics polling average.

“Meet the liberal Democrats who are actively auditioning to be Trump’s running mate,” a tweet from the DeSantis campaign, referring to Haley and retweeted by @Kimberl26890376 read.

The @Kimberl26890376 account also tweeted words of support directed at DeSantis.

“Followed 100% on the promise made!!” one post reads.

“Chief!” other posts just state.

Last November, Reynolds broke with tradition and endorsed DeSantis for president ahead of the Iowa caucuses, citing “unprecedented timing.”

Iowa governors typically remain neutral in presidential races until after the caucuses.

The Hawkeye State will hold its first national caucus on Jan. 15.
