Former senior NBC executive Mike Sington has drawn the ire of Republicans for his comments about Barron Trump.
The youngest child of former President Donald Trump and former First Lady Melania Trump marked his 18th birthday on Wednesday, with Sington taking an X to declare that he is now “fair game.”

The former NBC executive took to X (formerly Twitter) to share a photo of Trump and his youngest son, Barron, when the teenager turned 18 on Wednesday. In a now-deleted post, Sington wrote, “Barron Trump turned 18 today. He’s fair game now.”
The post has sparked a wave of controversy on social media platforms as several netizens, including rank-and-file Republican and MAGA supporters, slammed him for the comment.

The post did not go down well with some netizens and prominent Republicans, who slammed him and questioned what he meant by “fair play.”
One user wrote, “Well, it’s kind of creepy because it can be thought of in different ways. Bad word.”
Another user called Sington a “sick individual,” adding that “the media hates Trump so much that they are willing to go after his innocent son who did nothing wrong.”
“Leave the f— Barron alone,” one fan wrote. “The boy loved his father and never said anything publicly. He was still a child.”

“That’s a threat to Baron’s life, he needs to be questioned,” wrote one concerned individual.
Some MAGA supporters and Republicans are also concerned about the controversial post.
“This creepy NBC guy is really broken. I wonder if he has kids? Nieces? Nephews? How old are they?” wrote Michael R. Caputo, former assistant secretary of public affairs for the Department of Health and Human Services during the Trump administration.
“This is very scary,” said Garrett Ventry, a former senior communications adviser to the Republican Senate Judiciary Committee.
