House Republicans will decide early next year whether to try to impeach President Biden, the head of the House Judiciary Committee predicted Sunday.
Panel chairman and Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) said the GOP impeachment inquiry still needs some finishing touches, while many of his allies have concluded there is enough evidence to prosecute.
“I believe we will get debriefings and interviews done in this calendar year and then make a decision early next year whether the actual evidence of the warrant goes to the articles of impeachment and moves to that stage of the investigation,” Jordan told “Sunday Morning Futures”. .”
Last week, the investigation, led by Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-La.), issued about a dozen subpoenas and copy interview requests.
Most notably, the investigation subpoenaed scandal-plagued eldest son Hunter Biden and the president’s brother James Biden for testimony, in addition to business associates and key players in family affairs.
Comer, before making the move, went on “Sunday Morning Futures” last week and bluntly insisted that Joe Biden should be challenged, though he didn’t set a timeline.

“I think he should, but that will be left to the speaker,” Comer said last Sunday. “People ask me why I haven’t put someone in jail yet. All I can do is investigate.”
Jordan refused to go as far as predicting dismissal.
The investigation featured collaboration between the House Oversight, Judiciary and Ways and Means committees. It was established in September and is investigating the president’s family business dealings as well as alleged influence peddling schemes.

Special Counsel David Weiss, who has been in charge of prosecuting the case against Hunter Biden, testified before the Judiciary Committee behind closed doors last week.
He reportedly confirmed that he is requesting special counsel status in June 2022 for his investigation into the eldest son.
Although he was not granted that status until August, Weiss insisted, “I will always be able to get it if I ask for it,” according to Jordan, who described the inconsistencies in the special counsel’s testimony when speaking to reporters last week.
Behind closed doors, Weiss also dodged many questions, citing the ongoing nature of her work. Hunter Biden has pleaded not guilty to tax and gun charges brought by Weiss’ team.

The main concern for Jordan is how Weiss asked to cooperate with the US attorneys in the district of Southern California and the district of Washington, DC, but both prosecutors refused.
“Guess what the charge is? It will be the tax year dealing with Burisma’s income,” Jordan said, referring to Hunter’s alleged shady dealings with the Ukrainian gas company.
“That for me is very important because Burisma year is all the income that goes into Hunter Biden. That statute of limitations – they let it expire. And I think it’s overdue because if they go there, it’s going to bring them back to the White House, back to Joe Biden.”
At one point, host Maria Bartiromo raised concerns about the timing of the impeachment, saying, “We have an election next year, President Trump is facing four impeachments, and you’ve got this dereliction of duty.”
In response, Jordan cited former President Donald Trump, who dismissed 91 criminal charges.
“He said they were after him because he fought for us,” Jordan said of Trump. “That’s right. That’s what The Swamp is doing. They’re going after President Trump because he kept his promises, and he fought for us.”
