Retired school worker, 79, accused of sending inappropriate texts and Snapchats to underage child

A 79-year-old retired high school employee has been arrested for allegedly sending inappropriate text and Snapchat messages to a minor.

Sue Ann Asch is accused of contacting a minor, who knew her, with inappropriate material in September, the same month she retired as a paraprofessional at Kalkaska High School in Michigan, according to UpNorthLive.

Michigan State Police in Houghton Lake began investigating him after receiving reports that he texted and messaged the unidentified teenager on a social media app, according to MLive.

After the victim was interviewed at the Child Advocacy Center in Traverse City, a search warrant was obtained for Asch’s home and several electronic devices were seized, police said.

The device was sent to the State Police Computer Crime Unit for analysis.

Authorities have not released details about the message.

A felony warrant was issued on January 8 and Asch turned himself in.

He was arraigned Monday on a charge of child surveillance for immoral purposes and is being held in the Kalkaska County Jail on $5,000 bond.

Charges generally cover indecent acts.

Asch worked for the school district from 2012 until his retirement, Kalkaska Public Schools Superintendent Rick Heitmeyer told UpNorthLive.

He told the outlet that authorities have not contacted him about the investigation into Asch’s alleged actions.
