“Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star Crystal Kung-Minkoff visited ‘The People’s House’ for a cause near and dear to her heart: Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month! Kung-Minkoff commemorated the visit on his Instagram Tuesday morning with a carousel of priceless photos!
Kung-Minkoff has made it a point to incorporate conversations about race during her time on the Bravo series; her intention to educate her fellow stars has brought a real-world element to Kathy Hilton’s diamond- and tequila-fueled elite world.
The ‘RHOBH’ star’s commitment to educating her co-stars has also inspired some of the most memorable fiction of recent years. Before we take a peek at the reality star’s experience, let’s take a look at Kung-Minkoff’s expertise in teaching the elite woman of Beverly Hills about her heritage.
‘RHOBH’ Star Has Dedicated Some Showtime To Educating And Showing Racism
The Blast has covered a bit of Kung-Minkoff’s experience as a ‘Housewife,’ including her struggles with co-star Sutton Stracke during season 11. Kung-Minkoff joined the cast in 2020.
Regarding her intention to educate her fellow cast members (and possibly ‘RHOBH’ viewers) about deep-rooted systemic racism, Kung-Minkoff said, “Racism is a systemic problem. It is a collective problem and should be solved collectively,” he explained, per one of our coverage. “To move the needle, it has to be done gently; I think people are afraid to talk about things, so they get defensive,” he continued, “My view is just to share my story and my party and my culture, and the food. And, you know, if that conversation comes up, I never shy away from it,” Kung-Minkoff concluded.
The conversation came up a bit during season 11. Kung-Minkoff and Stracke confronted each other about Stracke, allegedly preventing his co-star from sharing his perspective on the subject.
‘Housewives’ OG Kyle Richards weighed in on the tension in an interview with E! News.

The “Halloween” star defended Stracke and explained, “I think Sutton initially went through something and was too sensitive and emotional. I think in the initial conversation, she didn’t let Crystal express her feelings and share her feelings, and that set the tone,” Richards said. “And you know, after that, I think there were moments when I thought the two of them weren’t 100 percent fair to each other.” (per The Blast)
Garcelle Beauvais also swept in to defend her opponent; the actor and author spoke his mind, sharing his belief Stracke just “got it wrong.”
The “Love Me As I Am” hitmaker explained to Hollywood Life, “I think [Stracke] misunderstood.” Beauvais also adamantly defended his friends and colleagues.
“Sutton is not a racist,” he added. (per The Blast)
Stracke would apologize to Minkoff, and the two eventually took steps to mend their friendship. In May 2021, he posted an apology to his co-stars on Instagram.
“Even though Crystal and I had a strained relationship at the time, it was disrespectful to interrupt her and not hear her tell the truth. The diversity of my relationships has blessed my life, and I am committed to becoming a better listener to understand the harsh realities of people of color. I am sorry. I will do better and be better,” Stracke concluded.
Kung-Minkoff Celebrates AAPHI Heritage Month at the White House!
Kung-Minkoff, her husband Rob, and her closest friends and fellow members celebrated in style at the White House to celebrate AAPHI Heritage Month.
She posted ten photos and captioned her memories: “When President Biden invited you to celebrate AAPHI Heritage Month at the White House, you said YES!!! And the best part is that I get to do it with my closest family and friends. An amazing night that I will never forget. They also serve boba!” Kung-Minkoff concluded his post.
Last October, Kung-Minkoff confirmed he would be on board to return for season 13! Beauvais and Stracke have also announced their return.
