The “Real Housewives of New York” alumna and upcoming “Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip” cast member has long been familiar with keeping it real for people. McSweeney had no qualms about keeping anything quiet; The Married To The Mob CEO details his life story in his memoir “Chaos Theory: Finding Meaning In The Madness, One Bad Decision At A Time,” released last year.

McSweeney candidly addresses his sobriety and discusses his experiences with NYC nightlife as a teenager, which played a role in his eventual rehab stay.

Now that her time on ‘RHONY’ may be over, McSweeney has a new outlet to connect with her fans and continue to serve up reality; he launched a podcast!

Before we look at the vulnerability McSweeney shared in the first two episodes of “The Leah McSweeney Show,” let’s take a look back at what she shared while promoting her memoir last year.

McSweeney’s memoir isn’t the first place where fans have learned a little about his sobriety struggles. During her two seasons on the show, she was candid in sharing her sobriety experiences on camera, including how she started drinking again after nine years of being cast on the show.

While promoting “Chaos Theory” last year, McSweeney sat down with her mother, Bunny, for an appearance on the “Tamron Hall Show.” He discussed the magnetic pull he felt from using recreational drugs as a teenager.

McSweeney shares his desire to find community at a young age, and how he thinks he’s found it in the rave scene.

Although his adult self believes going to raves saved his younger self’s life, he is also honest in sharing how partying continues to increase his unease in his life.

“It also hurt my life in a lot of ways, and I lost something. It was a ‘catch-22,'” McSweeney shared with Hall.

Feeling out of place at his Catholic high school also contributed to his sense of loss. She also revealed her teenage self felt like a “scapegoat” at school and shared how her family’s economic status and not-so-famous last name also prevented her from feeling accepted at her Upper East Side school.

McSweeny’s heavy partying days have also taken a toll on his mother, Bunny. Bunny shared how she “still” feels guilty about their fraught relationship during her daughter’s teenage years.

Bunny expressed feeling “like someone left our house at 13, and someone else came in,” when Leah started experimenting.

However, Mama McSweeney felt that her daughter’s story could be an asset to the reader’s life.

Bunny shared that he feels “hopeful” that “Chaos Theory” will help readers who are in the same place as McSweeney.
