The reality TV star was charged and arrested for allegedly participating in a scam that promised fake financial possibilities to seniors online. Shah, who could have faced up to 30 years in prison if convicted of the crime, previously agreed to a plea deal that called for a reduced sentence of 11 to 14 years in prison and $9.5 million in restitution.

Citing several reasons the reality star should be reduced further, her legal team has now asked for the sentence to be reduced to three years in prison, arguing that it is “just and fair.” Among the reasons stated by his team is that Shah can be distinguished from all other accused parties who have received more than three years.

According to a report by InsiderCourt documents obtained read, “many have direct contact with fraud victims— either as salespeople using fake names or as managers or sales floor owners whose job it is to convince customers not to charge back their worthless products,” further added Shah on his part has never been in contact with any MPG customer or anyone else who bought the product.

In justifying her request for a reduced sentence, her legal team also pointed out that her husband and two sons have been caught up in an ongoing legal battle.

“Furthermore, this case has already cost Jen. Jen—who desperately wanted to be the best mother in the world—has now become a source of shame, fear, and embarrassment for her beloved sons,” the document reads.

“Jen would never do anything to harm her children. He knew the emotional and psychological burden his son had to pay. This is a danger that he will spend the rest of his life atoning for.”

The Utah native, who initially pleaded not guilty to the charges, changed his plea to “guilty” in July and tried to negotiate a reduced 11-year sentence. His sentencing was postponed from an earlier December date and will now be heard on January 6, 2023. He asked to complete his term at a federal facility in Bryan, Texas.

In an effort to clear the air and set the record straight, Shah released a statement via his Instagram page as he revealed he was always talking to “Bravo.”

“On September 14, 2022, I was informed by Bravo executives that I was not invited to attend the Season 3 reunion,” the reality star, 49, claimed in the statement. “I was disappointed that I didn’t have a place to confront the inaccuracies and address my storyline with the cast members.”

He later added that the network reconsidered their decision and then invited him back after two months, which he expressed his delight at. Shah said, “I am clear with Bravo that out of respect for the court and the standing judicial order, I will not be in a position to discuss anything related to the legal case or my sentence.”

“Bravo found this unsatisfactory and said they expected to discuss this ‘storyline’. That expectation has no regard for me or my family’s well-being; so under legal advice, I will not attend the meeting. I need to focus on the most important thing in my life – my family.”
