‘RHOSLC’ Star Jen Shah Gets Reduced Prison Sentence

Jen Shah had one year removed from her sentence after beginning her sentence at a Texas prison in February. The TV personality was charged with conspiracy to commit wire fraud in 2021 and convicted in 2022.

Shah and his accomplice Stuart Smith initially denied the allegations before pleading guilty to the charges. According to Shah’s attorney, the “Real Housewives Of Salt Lake City” star feels bad for her victims and is committed to making them “whole.”

follow People’s Magazine, The 49-year-old Shah had a year dropped from his sentence a month after resuming his time at the Bryan Texas Federal Prison Camp. Although the sentence was originally for 78 months, the Federal Bureau of Prisons inmate database reports that he will be free to go on August 30, 2028.

Shah’s sentence follows several charges that the court found him guilty of. They include money laundering, conspiracy and wire fraud related to telemarketing. After initially pleading not guilty, Shah admitted to taking money from thousands of senior citizens in July 2022. The reality star will now serve 5.5 years for his crimes instead of the initial 6.5 years he was convicted of.

Along with his sentence, Shah was mandated by the court to pay $6.5 million in damages to the victims he defrauded. Before admitting to the allegations, Shah got a unique tattoo on his right hand to remember his family while in prison. She wrote the names of her husband and sons, Sharrief, Omar, and Sharrief Jr.

According to his lawyer Priya Chaudhry, Shah is serving his sentence after a month. The star “remains committed to the rehabilitation of his victims” after admitting his crimes. Chaudhry told Many people that the Shah has taken steps towards clearing the restitution debt.

Lawyers are eager for Shah to complete his sentence and return to his daily life. He said, “We hope to have his home as soon as possible so he can get on with his family and work, putting his life chapter behind him.” Although Shah’s team tried to dismiss the charges in August 2021, the court disagreed.

Since he reported himself to jail, Shah has been updating fans on his sentence. The star revealed she felt out of place and wanted to be somewhere else. He later stated that he was going to “quit [herself] rather than going down this path of self-destructive thinking.” Shah reminded himself that his “bad decisions” got him there.

During his trial, Shah apologized to his victim for his fraudulent actions and promised to make things right. He said, “I’m sorry. My actions have hurt innocent people.” Although remorseful, Shah stated he was “doing everything I could to get funds to pay the damages.”

His lawyer reiterated his commitment to pay back the money as he stated that Shah is ready to “make restitution to those who have affected his life.” Chaudhry also stated that Shah was “committed” to serving his time in prison without protest.

Although this is the first time, she is ready to face this phase of her life with “courage and purpose.” Chaudhry added that his determination was “driven by his desire to make amends for the injuries he caused and to help others in his new community.”

To cope, Shah relied on the “unwavering love and support of his family and friends.” The star is looking forward to learning from her experience and “emerging” a better version of herself “that has a positive impact on others.”
