Riley Keough, the eldest child of the late Lisa Marie Presley and Danny Keough, has a lot to say about her only child welcomed via surrogate in August 2022.
News of the child’s birth broke after Ben Smith-Petersen, Riley’s husband and father to their child, revealed it in a tribute read on his wife’s behalf at her mother’s memorial.
Motherhood is the only thing the phenomenal actress wants to do, and she recently explained why she chose surrogacy while touching on her son’s relationship with his grandfather, Elvis Presley.

Riley certainly had no doubts or fears about going with a surrogate to deliver her baby girl, and she told Vanity Fair in a recent interview, stressing that it was the “best option” at the time.

“I think it’s a really cool, selfless and incredible act that this woman is doing to help other people,” the “Magic Mike” star said. “I could carry a child, but it just felt like the best option for what I was going through physically with the autoimmune stuff.”
He then talked about his son’s name — revealing it to be Tupelo Tupelo Storm Smith-Petersen — and his connection to the late Elvis, whose birthplace in Mississippi was of the same name.
The 34-year-old explained, “It’s funny because we chose his name before the Elvis movie. I was like, ‘This is cool because it’s not a famous word or name associated with my family—it’s not like Memphis or something. However, when the movie “Elvis” came out, Tupelo was constantly mentioned, causing Riley to groan, but she ended up seeming okay with it.
Another member of the “The Good Doctor” actor’s family who is honored through his daughter is his deceased brother, Benjamin Storm Keough, who goes by his middle name. Benjamin died when he was 27 years old.
Baby girl Riley is an exact copy of her faithful partner Ben and according to “The Runaways” star, she is “literally like someone who shrunk my husband, and that’s our baby.” However, Tupelo inherited her mother’s eyes, smile and hair.
Considering motherhood, Riley admits how important being a good parent is to her because she wants to try her best for her daughter. In his words:
“This is the thing in my life so far that I really want to, quote, unquote, fix. I don’t think you can be a perfect parent, but I want to be the best mom for him. That.…is very important to me.”

Although the “Mad Max” star did not mention any connection between Tupelo and his late mother, it appears that the little one shared a bond with his late grandmother before her tragic death, as noted at Lisa’s funeral.
Lisa Marie was buried next to her son Benjamin in the Meditation Garden at the Graceland family cemetery. The burial site also contains Elvis, his mother, Gladys, and his father, Vernon. At the funeral in January, Riley was so sad that her husband had to help deliver her eulogy, where she revealed that they had made the “Now What” creator a grandmother before she died.
“Thank you for showing me love is the only thing that matters in life,” the tribute read. “I wish I could love my daughter the way you love me, the way you love my brothers and sisters.”
The touching note went on to express Riley’s gratitude for everything her mother did in raising her and her siblings.
