The New York medical examiner’s office has confirmed the cause of death of Leandro De Niro, actor Robert De Niro’s grandson. The coroner ruled the cause of death an overdose of fentanyl, bromazolam, alprazolam, 7-amino clonazepam, ketamine, and cocaine.
Leandro was found dead last month when his friend found his body in an apartment in New York. The friend went looking for Leandro after not hearing from him for several days.
The New York Police Department revealed to TMZ that they found a bag of cocaine, two blue pills, and seven tablets near Leandro’s body. They also shared that the actor bought fake oxycodone and Xanax shortly before his death and that the oxycodone had been mixed with fentanyl.
The official cause of death was determined by the coroner in line with the statement of Leandro’s mother, Drena De Niro. In a social media post, he wrote, “Someone sold him pills laced with fentanyl that they knew were laced but still sold them to him.”

The NYPD also disclosed to TMZ that they had arrested a suspect for selling fake drugs to Leandro. The woman, identified as Sophia Marks, is believed to be Leandro’s trafficker and faces up to 20 years in prison.
Marks was reportedly arrested in a raid conducted by the NYPD and a federal task force after Leandro’s death. Although he has been arrested and processed as a suspect, it is not yet clear what charges Mark will face in court.

One message read, “Do you really need them … I [don’t] want to kill you,” and he later sent, “I don’t like treating you because they’re not scripted.” Marks and Leandro ended up paying $105 for oxycodone pills and two Xanax tablets, and she warned him again not to “overdo it.”
