Roshni Dada was born on Tuesday, 23 February 1999 (age 22 years; in 2021) in Jeju Dada, a small village in East Kameng district of Arunachal Pradesh, India. His zodiac sign is Pisces. Roshni did her schooling at Manu Academy, Itanagar. After completing her primary and secondary education, she enrolled in the North Eastern College of Nursing Health Sciences, Itanagar to pursue a bachelor’s degree in Nursing. Career

Roshni Dada started her modeling career in 2019 by participating in the eleventh edition of Miss Arunachal held in 2019. She is the best in every round from talent to extracurricular activities. With the popular vote and the approval of the Judges, Roshni Dada was crowned as Miss Arunachal 2019. She won a new car and a cash prize at a modeling competition held at Nyokum Lapang grounds. His family has played an important role in helping him achieve his childhood dreams. They were the happiest people out of the crowd at the show.

Roshni Dada, on becoming the winner of Miss Arunachal 2019, got the chance to enter the mega audition of Miss India 2019. Roshni, after qualifying several rounds, was crowned Miss India Arunachal Pradesh 2019 during the pageant. Even after putting in maximum effort, she was unable to become a finalist in the beauty pageant.

Roshni Dada didn’t take a backseat after losing a previous modeling competition, and in 2020, she auditioned for the second season of one of the most popular modeling competitions on Indian television “MTV Supermodel of the Year.” The show was judged by Malaika Arora, Milind Soman, Anusha Dandekar, and Masaba Gupta. Amid the nationwide shutdown due to COVID-19 in 2020, auditions for the show were held virtually via video call. Roshni Dada impressed the judges with her modeling skills and secured a place in the top 12 finalists. He wowed the judges in every round of the show and was the toughest competitor for his fellow contestants. The event culminated on October 24, 2021, where Roshni Dada was declared the winner, and Eksha Kerung was the first runner-up of “MTV Supermodel of the Year Season 2.” Roshni won the trophy along with a prize of Rs. 5 lakhs. Winning the MTV Supermodel of the Year Season 2 title was like a dream come true for me. Today, I beam with confidence while being unabashedly myself and ready to take on the world. In the midst of all the odds and where I came from, I never thought I would make it this far but I have learned to stay strong by focusing on my own journey. I am indebted to my great competitor, Anusha Madam, and the guidance of Milind Sir for all the creative shots and Malaika Madam’s inspirational words that instilled all the confidence in me. I learn something new about myself every day and that is the most special part of this journey, it is a pocket full of unforgettable experiences. The great judges always ask me not to feel sorry for myself, which I think is the ultimate blessing and I really owe my success to them.”

Controversy

Roshni Dada got into controversy as soon as her audition video on MTV Supermodel of the Year Season 2 aired. During the introduction round, when judge Anusha Dandekar asked her how her family felt about her choosing modeling as her career and coming on the show, she replied,

Woh Humesha is supportive.. like everything I do, they are always there for me. But that’s a hamari society. I won’t say like… main community belongs to karti hoon jahan pe itna.. matlab freedom nahi hota ladkiyo ko.. matlab, esa nahi karna …. Aur humare waha pe proper fashion show hota hai… with proper pictures and all, nothing, nothing there. Waha to the logo ko actually itna pat nahi hai. To my parents are always there for me but Hamare Jo hi, matlab I mean the community, the people there. As if they are more intellectual like padhai karo, Job Karo, you are a woman you have to love, you have to marry and take care of his family like that, you have to give birth to a son and everything. “

Roshni claims that girls in her community do not get the same privileges as boys. His statement sparked controversy, and his social media accounts were flooded with hateful comments. Roshni defended herself saying,

When I talk about ‘freedom’ (women’s freedom) on the show, I mean to say that modeling as a career is not considered safe for a girl in Arunachal and more emphasis is placed on education. I never meant to say that girls in my country don’t have freedom, and they can’t choose where they want to go or what they want to wear.”

He further added,

I have worked with many photographers from this state, and they are very good. What I mean is that no photographer works as a professional.”

The Miss Arunachal organization was also harassed on various social media platforms to crown Roshni Dada as Miss Arunachal 2019. Roshni took to social media to clear all the misunderstandings, and she posted,

Miss Arunachal Organization is not to blame for my statement. I consider every member of the organization as a family, and they always support me. Any word said in the show is not to slander any individual or organization but it is just a comparison between a pageant and a modeling reality show.”

Besides, he said,

Whatever Dada says in the show is his own words and opinion. It has nothing to do with the Miss Arunachal Organization, which many people have seen and commented on on social media.”

Apart from being a model, Roshni Dada is also a final year nursing student. She is an expert in managing her passion for modeling and studying simultaneously. When asked about it, he said,
All my fellow nurses also asked about it. The thing is if you love something and really want to do something from the bottom of your heart then you will succeed. One of my positive traits is that I am good at managing things. I was lucky that my principal was quite supportive. He gave me days off and days off so I could follow my passion. It’s tough but at the end of the day, it’s worth it.”
Being a part of “MTV Supermodel of the Year” is nothing less than a dream come true for Roshni Dada. While talking about his most memorable move he mentioned that he loved the show, he said,
The most memorable moment for me was when I walked with Milind Sir. And, why not? She is hot and I really admire her. My sister is a big fan of him. When we were told that we would be sharing the ramp with Milind Sir, my heart started beating fast. I was nervous and we were given five minutes to think about our pose but I didn’t think about that but about sharing the ramp with Milind Sir. It was heartbreaking but I enjoyed the whole process.”
After winning the title of Miss Arunachal 2019, Roshni Dada connected with various donation drives, from blood to household items, for those in need. He is the brand ambassador of ‘Arunachal Air gun Surrender Abhiyan.’
