The Royal Family are once again facing allegations of racism after fans spotted a disturbing detail in Queen Camilla’s official coronation portrait.
Members of the British monarchy have been shrouded in speculation following their perceived beef with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. The Sussex family moved to the US because of the clan’s discriminatory treatment.
Although the matter has been resolved over the years, the sparks against the family reignited following King Charles III’s ceremony on May 6. In Buckingham Palace’s latest update, eagle-eyed fans spotted decorative antiques that appeared to depict Black people.

A few days after the important event of King Charles and Queen Camilla, the official Instagram account of the royal family updated its page with a picture of their coronation portrait.
The image captures the former Duchess of Cornwall in her crown and ceremonial dress.
The honorary Commodore-in-Chief of the Royal Naval Medical Service poses in front of his royal chair in the lavishly decorated rooms of Buckingham Palace. The interior features several gold details, antiques and a red carpet that covers the entire floor.
So #PrinceWilliam said “We are not a racist family.”
I think that looking at this official picture #QueenCamilla and remember the old saying “[a] a picture is worth a thousand words” shows us that, despite the fact, which #BritishRoyalFamily with/1 https://t.co/qKKLSlZ8XL

While the picture looks harmless, closer inspection reveals a collection of unattractive decorative artwork on the fireplace mantel.
The display piece, which looks like a candle, features figures painted in black with their backs resting on the base of candle holders.
After discovering the antique, fans took to Twitter in outrage as they believed the object was a “blackamoor statue.” Calling out the royal family for allegedly showing their racist colours, one upset individual linked the photo to the former scandal.

“Queen Camilla taking her official portrait in front of the blackamoor statue reminds me of when Princess Michael wore it to meet Meghan. It was a choice,” the person writereferencing the 2017 drama between the Duchess of Sussex and the Princess of Kent.
A conspiracy theorist demanded works of art that are considered racist are deliberately displayed in portraits of the Queen Consort. The social media user’s message read:
“Queen Camilla’s official portrait, taken in front of the blackamoor statue collection. The Queen is surrounded by staff, working on one thing – her image. There was no accident. As we say in Alabama, ‘You can take that girl out of the trailer park…’”
More racist chants were heard through the platform, with a third condemning the former duchess with the hashtag. “#QueenCamilla proudly poses in front of racist #Blackamoor statue #RoyalRacism,” the fan said.
He is not welcome. ‘Queen’ Camilla also decided to have her picture taken in front of the blackamoor statue.

A fourth person tweeted that despite Prince William stating “We are not a racist family”, the royal family continues to prove their racism by surrounding themselves with “racist symbols.”
Referring to the tweet of Black activist Dr. Shola Mos-Shogbamimu who has since been deleted, the individual supported the lawyer’s claim that “#HarryAndMeghan made a JOINT DECISION to free themselves and their family” from the clutches of the royal clan.
The political commentator retracted his statement against the monarchy after discovering that the artwork might be a royal relic. “I stand corrected if this is not the Blackamoor statue behind Camilla as I thought but of the Weeping Lady,” the activist (wrote, sharing a screenshot from the royal website which said the candle was present at Buckingham Palace.

The design of the candle holder appears similar to the object seen in the portrait of the Queen. However, the image proves the black wax figure is not of African heritage but is partly female.
However, Mos-Shogbamimu reiterated his stance on black art in the royal family, writing: “The point is, if there is Blackamoor stuff or any historical racist depictions in the Palace, it should be removed, put in a museum so that history doesn’t repeat itself.”
Everything You Need to Know About Blackamoor Art & Its Connection With The Royal Family
As shared by The Sun, the term “blackamoor” refers to “a person with dark skin who is of African origin or whose ancestors are from Africa.” It became an art form thanks to the Europeans, who created jewelry and sculptures that usually depicted black people as slaves.

Decorative arts, which were popular from the 16th to the 19th century, lost their appeal because they exhibited the social gap between Europe and Africa. Although the blackamoor became a symbol of racism, it was not completely forgotten.
In 2017, Princess Michael of Kent came under fire after wearing a black brooch to the royal family’s Christmas lunch. Her controversial fashion statement gained attention because of Markle’s status as a biracial woman with a black mother and white father.
While the Princess apologized for “offending,” the incident divided fans about the British monarchy, Prince Harry appeared to fan the flames in the Netflix documentary “Harry and Meghan,” addressing “unconscious bias” in the royal family.
