Rumored lover of Chinese minister Qin Gang missing 5 months, internet searches suppressed

The rumored mistress of China’s ousted foreign minister, Qin Gang, has not been heard from since April — and mentions of her have been blocked on the country’s leading social media platforms, sources told The Post.

Qin, who is married, was removed from his post as Beijing’s top diplomat after an investigation by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) revealed he had an affair during his 18 months as ambassador to Washington, according to the Wall Street Journal.

Although the identity of the mistress has not been officially revealed, posters on China’s premier social media platform, Weibo, have long named former Phoenix TV presenter Fu Xiaotian as Geng’s love interest.

Fu is now barely mentioned on Weibo.

All live discussions about him have been blocked by moderators, and users have to refer to him by his initials to avoid having their posts flagged.

Fu was last heard from publicly on April 10 this year, with social media posts saying he was returning to Beijing from Los Angeles.

Fu also posted a picture of his son, Er-Kin, who is rumored to have fathered Qin.

“The last time I flew alone on this plane was from LA to DC for a work trip, and it both happily and sadly turned out to be the last interview I did with ‘Talking with World Leaders,'” he wrote, referring to the program he created. used to work for. “This plane is also from LA, but with precious baby boy Er-Kin.”

He also attached a picture from an interview with a man Qin trusted.

The comment section on posts on Weibo — which was opened two months ago — has been disabled.

Fu has long been a popular topic on the site, with users speculating about rumors of a previous romantic relationship with the famous official.

Photos previously circulated on the website showed Fu and a man of the same age taking care of a child, while claiming he was Fu’s legal husband.

But in a March 2022 post, Fu denied that the man was her partner.

Fu is also believed to have a personal Instagram account, where he posted a photo of his son’s “100th day of life” on March 4.

“Oh, and just so you know, my son’s father is not American,” she wrote. “We’re actually planning to go back to our home country soon, and we’re really excited about it!”

CCP officials were briefed on Qin’s dismissal in August, the Journal reported.

Chinese Defense Minister Li Shangfu was also brought in for questioning two weeks ago amid an unrelated CCP investigation, the newspaper reported on Friday.
