Runaway Arizona teen Alicia Navarro reunites with mother 4 years after disappearance

Runaway teenager Alicia Navarro has been reunited with her family four years after she disappeared from their Arizona home — and then turned up in Montana with a 36-year-old man now in jail on unrelated charges.

“The support, prayers and love my family has received from all over the world over the past four years has been truly inspiring,” mom Jessica Nunez said in a Facebook video on Wednesday.

“It was a very difficult journey, but it had a happy ending and today my family is complete.”

Navarro, now 18, disappeared in 2019 and was not found until he walked into a Montana police station in July and asked to be removed from the missing persons list.

By the time she resurfaced, she was staying with 36-year-old Eddie Davis, whose home was raided shortly after authorities learned of the arrangement.

He was charged with two felony counts of child abuse related to material found on his cell phone, according to a statement from the Montana Attorney General’s Office.

Navarro is not relevant to the current case.

A family representative confirmed to Fox 10 that Navarro and his mother have been reunited and that the family no longer lives in Arizona.

The representative also noted that the family faces challenges ahead as Navarro has not been in school for the past four years or received health care.

The family has no immediate plans to give interviews to news outlets.

“I hope my daughter’s case will help give hope to families who have lost loved ones and be a reminder to everyone that miracles do happen,” Nunez said in the video.

Following a police raid on Davis’ apartment, the couple moved into his parents’ home on a Native American reservation that had been tainted by drugs and sex abuse.

It is unclear where they lived as recently as last month.

An investigation into how Navarro ended up with Davis is ongoing, Montana Attorney General Austin Knudson said after Davis’ arrest.

Authorities arrested Davis while Navarro was with him, Knudson told 12 News last month.

He was on his way to a court hearing in an effort to change his name, he said.

“It seems that he is not aware of his activities dealing with child sexual abuse material involving children,” he said. “He didn’t seem so good when he found out yesterday.”

The hoarse creep had “dozens of images of suspected child sex abuse material” on his cell phone, officials alleged.

Navarro’s disappearance led to a nationwide search, even though police said he “abandoned his home on purpose” just days before his 15th birthday.

Missing persons reports at the time described Navarro as autistic but high functioning.

Nunez, who appeared on video from the airport and read a script, said she was looking forward to spending Thanksgiving and Christmas with her daughter this year.
