Russell Simmons has spoken out amid abuse allegations by his ex-wife Kimora Lee Simmons and their children Aoki Simmons and Ming Simmons.
The famous entrepreneur shared an apology to his children for venting his frustration on them but refrained from addressing the allegations directly. The apology, which received no response from loved ones, came after Ming wished Kimora a Happy Father’s Day.

The model later called out Russell’s abusive behavior, stating that his “threats and lies and intimidation moves [sic] and tactics are pathetic.” Within hours, Aoki had backed up his mother’s claims and provided evidence of his father’s unacceptable behavior via FaceTime recordings.
Under the clip, which shows the 65-year-old shouting at the Harvard University graduate, he wrote, “This is not someone who will accept help. This is just a screen recording sorry I don’t always remember to press ‘record’ when he calls my friends, my boyfriend, whoever, to get a chance to threaten and curse and go crazy.”
The 20-year-old then posted a screenshot of the alleged text from Russell, although no names were highlighted. The message insinuated that Kimora had managed to steal her ex’s money and “the love of my children as he promised.”
The accusatory statement prompts Aoki to reply, “I won’t talk to you until you’re DEAD. Don’t ever say that again.” In another Story, where he alludes to his father being mentally challenged, he types:
“Before his media issues, he was really the best father and a great parent. He and my mother are good friends. We were all defending him from anything, and then he suddenly turned on ANYONE who would let him lash out. It’s a very scary change to watch.”
Hours after the situation gained traction online, Russell took to his Instagram feed to post a five-second clip of his two girls along with this caption:

He added that he was “SO sorry for getting upset and yelling” and ended with a declaration of his undying love for his children. So far, the secret apology has garnered nearly 400k likes, with several people, including rapper Fat Joe, telling the Phat Farm creator that his family’s problems should remain private.

The Simmons family has made headlines following Russell’s lawsuit against his ex-wife and her husband, Tim Leissner, in 2021. According to documents reviewed by The Blast, the New Yorker accused Kimora and Leissner of transferring and using his share of beverage company Celsius energy to pay legal fees for the company.
He pointed out that although the three of them invested tens of millions of dollars in the company, Kimora and her men allegedly “connived with each other, aided and abetted each other and jointly engaged in fraud by causing illegal conversions and fraudulent transfers ” the shares without his knowledge or consent.
He later argued that the couple transferred his shares to themselves, adding that his accountant discovered “a large, unexplained change” in his interest in Celsius.
The Def Jam Recordings co-founder is seeking damages from Kimora and Leissner, believing he should be given restitution for interest and equal value for the wrongfully acquired shares.
Additionally, Russell stated that he sent a letter to Kimora on May 5, 2021, pleading with her to do the right thing and avoid a legal battle.
