Russia has put Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas on a wanted list, an official register showed Tuesday, as tensions rise between Russia and the West over Ukraine.
Kallas’ name appears on the Interior Ministry’s list of wanted persons in connection with criminal allegations. It did not specify the charges Kallas faces.
It is the first time the ministry has put a foreign leader on the wanted list.

Kallas has been a staunch supporter of Ukraine, leading efforts to increase military aid to Kyiv and tighten sanctions against Russia.
He has also angered Moscow by pushing for the removal of monuments to Soviet World War II soldiers. Russia has a law criminalizing “Nazi restoration” that includes a clause punishing the desecration of war memorials.
Estonian State Secretary Taimar Peterkop was also included on the wanted list, according to the register.

The move appears to reflect Moscow’s attempt to step up competition as it faces pressure from NATO allies as fighting in Ukraine nears the two-year mark, but is meaningless in practical terms as Russian-Western relations have been frozen during the conflict.
There was no immediate reaction to the actions of the Estonian authorities.
