A Russian mother of four slept with her husband’s mummified body for nearly four years – and performed occult rituals inspired by ancient Egyptian gods, police said.
The woman, identified only as 50-year-old Svetlana, shared a bed with her husband Vladimir’s remains and had forbidden her children from telling anyone about him on pain of being sent to an orphanage or mental health facility, according to reports. by the news site 78.ru.
The 49-year-old husband collapsed and died after a domestic dispute in December 2020, during which the wife reportedly screamed at the man and prayed for his death.
The strange incident took place in the family’s spacious six-bedroom house in the village of Starosiverskaya in the Leningrad region.
The angry wife ignored her husband as he lay motionless on the floor for four hours, thinking he was faking it, until the couple’s eldest son realized that something was wrong with his father.

The mother then prevented her children from asking questions about their father, wrapped Vladimir’s lifeless body in a blanket and put it in the bedroom.
The gruesome discovery was made last Thursday when social workers arrived at the home to check on the welfare of Svetlana’s children – twin boys and two girls aged 11 and 17.
Case workers have visited the family more than a dozen times since 2021 but previously failed to see the father’s blackened mummy on the bed.
Vladimir’s body showed no signs of trauma that would suggest foul play, according to the Russian Investigative Committee for the Leningrad region.

The wife is said to be performing a ritual to help preserve her husband’s body instead of laying him to rest, which she claims was Vladimir’s wish.
