Although “Bandidas” stands as the only film collaboration between Hayek and Cruz, their friendship has lasted off the set throughout the years, starting from Cruz’s initial arrival in Los Angeles. During this period, the two actresses were only in contact by phone, never meeting face to face. Nevertheless, Hayek went out of his way to welcome Cruz during his introduction to the City of Angels.
“I came here for two months, and I didn’t know anybody here,” Cruz shared last year during an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. “And [Salma] picked me up and said, ‘You’re not going to the hotel. You’re going to come to my house because it’s hard at first, and you’re going to feel very lonely.’”
