Actor Sam Asghari has finally spoken out following the news that he filed for divorce from pop star Britney Spears on Wednesday night.
The 29-year-old actor cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the split after fourteen months of marriage. The couple first met on the set of the “Slumber Party” music video in 2016 and got engaged in September 2021, just weeks before her conservatorship ended in November 2021. The two later tied the knot in a star-studded ceremony at her Thousand Oaks home. estate in California in June 2022.

Sh*t happens. Asking for privacy apparently [ridiculous] so I would just ask everyone including the media to be kind and considerate.”
The actress previously announced that she was taking a break from social media two weeks ago, following her mother’s “major accident” that landed her in the emergency room. “I am very grateful for the love and support you guys gave me while Mama Asghari was recovering after the accident,” he wrote on Instagram at the time. “Sending a huge thank you to the wonderful medical staff at Cedars-Sinai ER. While the media couldn’t keep up with the headlines surrounding the singer’s split, and subsequent divorce, from the “Special Ops: Lioness” actress, Britney seemed unfazed by the divorce news, which seems to have been coming for a while. The former couple were photographed without their wedding rings in March and the two looked distant from each other in pictures taken during a recent trip to Mexico.
Instead of discussing the divorce, Britney took to Instagram on Wednesday night to reveal that she plans to buy two horses that she plans to name Sophie and Roar. “Buy a horse soon ? !!! Too many choices is a bit overwhelming!!! A horse named Sophie and another named Roar ????” she wrote in the caption. “I can’t decide ? !!! Should I join the fun and wear a pink cowboy hat ? ??? Regardless, I think I found my sweet spot with Roar ? !!!”
Britney has yet to respond to Sam’s latest statement about the divorce, which follows claims that he left her with bruises and bite marks after a physical altercation and claims that Sam saw a video of him cheating on her with a worker who worked on their home.

It seems that Britney may not have had a strong reaction to the divorce because she knew it was coming for a while. The actor listed the separation date as July 28, 2023 which was almost three weeks ago. In court documents obtained by The Blast, the actress asked for spousal support and attorney fees, and hinted that she plans to contest their prenup.
In the legal filing, Sam wrote that he “has not determined the full nature and extent of the separate property assets and liabilities of each party.” It went on to say, “There are various items of community and semi-community assets and debts, the nature and full extent of which are unknown [Sam] at this time.”

On Wednesday night, a source told Page Six that the 29-year-old actress was reportedly “trying to negotiate concessions outside of her prenup and threatening to reveal very embarrassing information about Britney unless she was paid.” Britney’s attorney, Mathew Rosengart, has hired a family attorney to draft a prenuptial agreement to protect her assets before their marriage.
Interestingly, actress Octavia Spencer started trending on Thursday. In September 2021, he warned Britney to “sign a prenup” following news of their engagement. Although he felt compelled to apologize for the backlash at the time, fans now realize that he may have been right all along.
