During the interview, Smith further explained that at first, they had difficulty fully expressing their “sex” and “happiness” using their music as an outlet. They also had an issue discussing a topic so personal to them that even using Smith’s scary song, but they were able to “let go” of that.

“I run into this world, and it’s not the world I thought it would be. I’m afraid to express certain things… my sex in music, my happiness in music,” said the artist.

Smith prefers to show another side of themselves through music and, as a result, suppresses some parts. “The themes are sometimes very personal, and I feel more comfortable showing another side of myself; I didn’t feel pressured, but I definitely felt like I had to go out, definitely, towards the end.”
