Sarah Ferguson reveals queen’s touching final words to her before death

Former royal Sarah Ferguson has revealed the beautiful last words spoken by Queen Elizabeth II before her death last September.

The Queen, who had reigned for 70 years at the time of her death, died on September 8, 2022, aged 96 in Scotland.

The topic came up as Ferguson, 63, discussed her battle with breast cancer, as she believes the experience has pushed her to be her true self and “wake up.”

“It was the last thing the queen said to me: ‘Just be yourself, Sarah,'” Ferguson recalled during the Aug. 30 episode of her podcast, “Tea Talks With the Duchess & Sarah.”

“And he saw it,” the Duchess of York continued. “He just gets really angry when I’m not being myself. And that’s probably when I get into all the pickles. But now I am who I am, and I am very lucky to be who I am.”

The Post contacted Buckingham Palace for comment.

It’s unclear when the late monarch told Fergie those words, but the weekend before she died, the queen was reportedly “full of fun,” according to a priest who was with her.

The Reverend Iain Greenshields, 68, told the Times of London last year that he had dinner on Saturday and then lunch on Sunday with the queen at Balmoral, just four days before her death.

“It was a great visit,” he said. “His memory is really amazing, and he’s really full of fun,” she said of the visit.

“It was a big shock to me when I heard he was seriously ill because he was in such good shape over the weekend … It was only a few days ago, I couldn’t believe it,” he continued.

King Charles III and his sister, Princess Anne, also attended the lunch.

He died almost three and a half hours before the whole world knew about his death.

Ferguson herself was infamously married to King Charles’ younger brother, Prince Andrew, 63, from 1986 to 1996. After the divorce, she was stripped of the title of “His Royal Highness” but was still allowed the title of duchess.

The couple share two children together, Princess Beatrice, 35, and Princess Eugenie, 33.

He appears to have been hanging out with the royal family for a long time, according to Town & Country, and was not invited to Prince William’s wedding to Kate Middleton in 2011.

But in recent years, her relationship with them seems stronger than ever, even though she still wasn’t invited to King Charles’s coronation last May at Westminster Abbey.

She said she never “expected” to get an invite, telling Hello! Magazine, “You can’t have it both ways, you can’t get divorced and then say, ‘I want this …’ [You’re in] or you’re out. I think it’s great to be a big-time support.”

In June, the Duchess of York was diagnosed with early-stage breast cancer after a routine mammogram, which her sister urged her to get.

She later underwent a mastectomy.

“The princess is receiving the best medical care and her doctor has told her that the prognosis is good,” read a statement released by her representative.
