The family crisis was the death of his stepfather, Paul Giffin Forste.
Forste has been married to SJP’s mother, Barbara, for 54 years.
SJP’s family released a statement following their tragic loss.
“Our family is saddened to announce that after an unexpected and sudden illness, Paul Giffin Forste passed away yesterday at the age of 76,” it read. “In his final moments, he was surrounded by the love and gratitude of his beloved wife of 54 years Barbara, and children, including Sarah Jessica Parker. Paul will be remembered for the loving spirit that was his faith, his special joy for his 13 grandchildren, and his abiding belief in making the world a more charitable, tolerant, and beautiful place for all.”

SJP’s Stepfather Died at the Age of 76

SJP is part of the Board of Directors for NYC Ballet, and according to Page Sixshe worked behind the scenes in creating the Fall Fashion Gala.
On Tuesday, the “Sex and the City” star attended the premiere of “Hocus Pocus 2” with her husband, Matthew Broderick, and their twins, Tabitha Hodge and Marion Loretta Elwell.

All in all, the first season of ‘AJLT’ was a semi-wild ride for all who watched.
On March 22, the TV giant and streaming service announced the exciting news.
“I’m happy and excited to tell more stories about these passionate and courageous characters – played by this amazing and amazing cast. The truth is, we’re all excited,” executive producer Michael Patrick King said in a statement. “And Just like that… our Sex life is back.”
Longtime fans of the TV series and the spinoff movie know that Kim Cattrall’s Samantha Jones is NOT returning for ‘AJLT;’ however, King and Parker were able to write his character into the show.
Behind the scenes, Cattrall didn’t see eye to eye with SJP and the rest of his cast mates.
There was a lot of buzz claiming Cattrall was a “diva” and refused to work if she didn’t get more airtime.

Cattrall went on the record in 2017 during an interview with Piers Morgan where he shared his side of the story.
He revealed that he had been saying ‘NO’ to a third film for over a year before SJP revealed his version of the story, which paints a grim picture of Cattrall.
“No one ever picks up the phone and tries to call you and says, ‘How are you?’ That would be the way to deal with it,” shared Cattrall, suggesting SJP wasn’t the only star to blame for the rift. “This is, it feels like, a toxic relationship.”
Cattrall also went on to say, “I think he is [Sarah Jessica] could be better. I don’t know what’s wrong with him.”
In December 2016, Cattrall said, “Thanks, but no,” to the third ‘SATC’ movie.
Kim Cattrall Will Not Be Invited To ‘AJLT’

Earlier this year, King made it clear that Cattrall would NOT be welcomed back into the ‘SATC’/’AJLT’ family during an interview with VARIOUS.
When asked if he would continue to open doors for Cattrall, he replied, “No. Just like it didn’t occur to him that Kim would join him And Like Thatbecause he said what he said.”
King went on to say that he was firm in his stance that fans should not expect to see Cattrall on the show.
“The only place I partake in magical thinking is in fiction,” he says. “You take people at their word, and you’re a smart producer — you don’t back yourself into a corner. Thinking magically, it was great to have Samantha. I don’t expect a realistic Kim Cattrall to appear again.”
