Then they had to shave their heads if their husbands died. Girls are married to old men and this is not considered wrong in our society. They are not allowed to walk alone. They are not allowed to go out and work. They do not have the right to get an education and many more discriminations they have to face.
Then slowly Indian society began to accept women equally and we got our first woman president, first woman wrestler, and first woman to join a space mission and everything started to be a first for women.
Today we live in 2022 but there are still many families and even villages where girls face ill treatment. However, people have the same backward thinking that daughters are a burden and should be killed in the mother’s womb. There are many illegal clinics in India where people still go for gender determination. If they find out she’s a girl, they’ll drop them right away just because they want a boy.
India still faces this issue in most areas and this is why the government needs to start a campaign to save the girl child so that girls get a chance to live life. People get excited when they find out that a mother is pregnant with a boy; however, feel sad and restless in the case of a girl child. These are the backwards thinking people.

The movie really opened the eyes of the Indian society. This is not just one example as there are countless, unfortunately, women still judged and lacking opportunities in many parts of India.
India is among the countries where women face crimes like feticide, rape, molestation, murder, molestation, domestic abuse, teasing, and more. This is a country that worships goddesses in temples but when they go home they beat their wives. This is India that talks very loudly about India’s security but teases school girls in the middle of the road.

Unfortunately rapists and criminals get away with their crimes because of our weak judicial system. It is hard to say when times will change for women in India. We may see the growth of women in one house, but in the neighborhood, a daughter may not have the opportunity to see the world outside her mother’s womb.
