Sean Combs Sides With Kanye West, Threatens To Boycott Adidas

Rapper and business mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs recently joined the celebrities supporting Kanye West in his feud against Adidas and Gap. Ye initially launched Yeezy, his fashion brand, back in 2015 in collaboration with Adidas.

Over the past few months, the “Flashing Lights” artist has spoken publicly about his issues with the brand, one of which is allowing “Yeezy day” despite not giving his approval. She also accused the sportswear brand of bringing back some of her old styles without her consent.

Ye’s latest feud with Adidas is linked to one of the brand’s latest shoe designs. The 45-year-old claimed the design was stolen after he failed to attend meetings with Adidas and Gap. Combs recently lent her platform to the cause and pledged to boycott the brand entirely if the issue isn’t resolved.

Combs has just joined his old friend, Ye, in accusing Adidas of copying the artist’s designs. The record executive took to Instagram to slam the sportswear brand and promised he wouldn’t patronize them until “they get this right.”

Combs posted a photo of a pair of Adidas sneakers that resembled Ye’s Yeezy sneakers with a big red “X” painted on them. The “Coming Home” artist captioned the post with, “Since the Run-DMC era, @Adidas has always used Hip Hop to build its brand and make billions from our culture.”

The 52-year-old continued, “BUT WE ARE MORE THAN JUST CONSUMERS NOW, WE ARE OWNERS. @KanyeWest and YEEZY are the reason Adidas is culturally relevant. WE KNOW OUR VALUE! I’m done wearing Adidas products until they make this right!! We have to support each other!! Please repost this!!”

Kanye West Shares A Personal Message With Sean Combs

Ye started scolding Adidas and Gap for allegedly copying his designs on social media a while ago. He claims that after making plans to carry his Yeezy line, the two companies deliberately left him out of meetings and robbed him by stealing his designs.

The “Praise God” artist posted a screenshot of his conversation with Combs on Tuesday, showing the fellow artist supporting him and asking for something he could post to support Ye. He also posted a picture of the shoe with the X mark on it. The post was captioned, “This energy is love.”

In a screenshot of the private message, Combs wrote, “please [you] send me something i can post to support you! me [will] don’t wear Adidas again for the rest of my life if they don’t make you right!!!!” Ye, for his part, responded with, “Please God. Love you.”

Swizz Beatz Also Supports Rappers

Combs isn’t the only celebrity to support Ye; Kasseem Dauod Dean, better known as Swizz Beatz, took to Instagram and called out Adidas in solidarity with the 45-year-old. In the post, he revealed that as much as he likes to hide himself, Adidas “had a mistake” in their step.

He posted a photo of the same shoe with an X on it with the caption, “I usually mind my own business, but this is DEAD WRONG! If we let them do this to @kanyewest, it will happen to us too! This guy created this groundbreaking innovation, and it should be respected as creative!”

The record producer added, “YE just asking for his work to be respected and not stolen that’s not crazy to me!! We’re not buying this!!!!!!!!!!!! @adidas you should be the original do the right thing please !!!” Ye responded to the write-up by posting a screenshot with the caption “That’s love.”

Still in his social media campaign against Adidas, on Tuesday, Ye posted a photo of Alasdhair Willis, the sportswear brand’s creative director, asking him why he allegedly stood by and let Adidas continue with the design. Willis is married to Stella McCartney, icon of the Beetles, daughter of Paul McCartney.

As mentioned News WeekYe captioned the post with, “To adidas creative director Alasdhair Willis I made a song with your father-in-law [.] How can you watch adidas do what they have done to a creative friend and say nothing and never see me or contact me? Why do I have to do this in public?”

Shortly after the post, the “Donda” artist retracted his statement and asked fans not to post any Willis memes. Ye claimed that the creative director was a “good guy” and that he was sure Willis would “call [him] and actually help.”
