‘Selling Sunset’ Jason Oppenheim Is Getting Mixed Reaction For Repping Kanye West

“Are there standards to consider when selecting business clients?” Some critics argue that follows Jason OppenheimKanye’s reservation WestMalibu home listing.

It’s not news that the rapper, legally known as Ye, is a drama magnet, but his notoriously antisemitic opinions are causing his new realtor problems. After Oppenheim teamed up with the “Gold Digger” maker to sell his ruined Malibu property, many criticized the real estate agent for representing him despite being Jewish.

After West threw in the towel on his Malibu oceanfront home, he chose Oppenheim to sell the dilapidated property for $53 million. This move surprised many, given the Hip-hop icon’s previous antisemitic views. However, people were more surprised by the Jewish realtor’s decision to work with him.

Despite the criticism, another prominent LA realtor supports the “Selling the Sunset” star and sees no problem with a Jew representing Ye. These individuals do not believe their customer’s background matters in business, especially in a socially and politically divided world.

One agent cited the war in the Middle East, saying it was impossible to do business if they excluded clients with unpopular views. “What should we do? Ask potential customers if they side with Israel or Palestine?” shouted the realtor.

Another voiced similar sentiments, noting their time as a practicing attorney made it unethical to evaluate clients before taking on a case. “It’s not reality,” explained the person. More realtors agree, explaining that it makes no sense to look at every potential client to find an excuse not to represent them.

These sources, while talking to TMZ, insisted they cannot involve religion, politics and social standards in their business. One real estate agent wondered: “Should we look to see if the client is a registered Republican and say s— you, I don’t represent you?”

Some realtors blasted Oppenheim’s critics, claiming they can’t Google every client or look into their social media lives for a business. One pointed out: “What if a client has an offensive post on Instagram? Or what if a client is in the middle of a bad divorce, and I side with their partner?”

Another realtor drew attention to the LGBTQ+ community, asking if people expected them to ask if their clients had different views on gay marriage. “At some point, it becomes impossible to do business,” the individual said before adding:

“What about the buyer who paid Kanye $53 million for the Malibu property? What if Kanye went to a Mercedes dealership. Shouldn’t they sell him a car?”

Although the majority supported Oppenheim’s decision to represent the West, several parties aired their opposition. A realtor insisted that he would never support the rapper because of his notorious antisemitic views. Agent declares:

“Wait a minute. Kanye is one of the biggest antisemites in the world. I will never represent him, ever.”

Kanye West Puts Malibu Home Up for Sale Amid Ex-Employee Lawsuits

As noted, the criticism of Oppenheim comes amid West’s bid to put his Tadao Ando-designed Malibu mansion on the market for $53 million. The rapper moved to sell the 4,000-square-foot beachfront property after failing to renovate the house into an old-school bomb shelter.

Yeezy’s founder plans to destroy the beautiful building by removing all the windows, electricity and plumbing. This exposes the home to the natural elements, further damaging the property and leaving the next owner with more renovations.

However, Oppenheim claims this problem is a blessing in disguise for anyone buying an oceanfront home. In his words: “The interior has been removed, and this creates an incredible opportunity to buy a Picasso on the water with the ability to restore it to your own specific standards, with modern technology and excellence.”

Another boon is the sale price of the Malibu home for $53 million, which is $4 million less than the property’s original asking price of $57 million when West bought it in 2021. Despite the attractive offer, it’s still uncertain whether the sale will garner much attention, given the legal -drama laws related to buildings.

The property’s former custodian, Tony Saxon, filed suit against Ye, claiming he was wrongfully fired for speaking out against the dangerous renovations. He said the mansion’s marble bathrooms, windows, plumbing and electricity were removed because the rapper wanted a “bomb shelter from the 1910s.”

“We’re going to finish all that and build it the Bat Cave,” Saxon explained, noting his former employer wanted a place to “hide from the Clintons and the Kardashians.”

In his lawsuit, the plaintiff accused Ye of violating several labor codes, including hazardous working conditions, unpaid wages, and wrongful retaliatory termination.
