After teasing the name of her unborn child, Serena Williams has given fans something to speculate about.
Last week, the Tennis champion announced that she is expecting her second child with her husband, Alexis Ohanian, when she attended the 2023 Met Gala fashion event. The 41-year-old, who asked her fans to help her choose the baby’s name, recently confirmed in a media post social media that she is thinking of naming her unborn child after a Disney character.
Serena Williams Teases Disney Character For Her Baby’s Name
The Wimbledon star took to TikTok to reveal some of the names she might be considering for her little one; however, Williams doesn’t just list any baby names; he mentioned some of his favorite Disney character names.
In a video post where the retired tennis star listed Maleficent, Scar, Gaston, Ursula, and Lady Gothel as potential names for her baby- depending on the gender- She said:
“Good morning. I was thinking… I don’t know the gender; I don’t know if we’re having a girl or a boy. So, I was thinking of some names, and I was like, maybe I should do something with my favorite Disney character because I like Disney, and as you know, I’m like their biggest fan.”
William, a big fan of the animation company, added, “So if it’s a girl, it could be like Maleficent, [Maleficent], is that how you say it?” He continued, “It could be Scar if the man, dear Scar; a little misunderstanding. What else? Gaston. How can I forget Gaston? Ursula,[is a] classic, love Ursula. Lady Gothel, maybe I could call her Lady Gothel if she was a girl.
Finally, the professional athlete enthusiastically said, “So, just going through these names. Told you I had something.” A number of fans below the post used the opportunity to suggest names for Williams’ unborn child while others gave their opinions on her choice.
One fan suggested, “Olympia is Alexis Olympia = AO, Australian Open. Hear me, Roland Garros, or Ashe for Arthur Ashe. Hercules, if you want Disney. Aurora, if a girl!”
Another fan commented, “Nala, Ursula or Megara for a girl ? and if it’s a boy, Naveen, Maui, or James after Captain James Hook ?.” A third follower, who wasn’t a fan of her chosen name, stated, “No and No.”
“How about after you, your hubby[,] or other family members? I know it’s not Disney, ijs. Congratulations ?,” a charming fan suggested. A fifth fan quipped, “Or maybe Disney ?.”
Williams and Ohanian have plenty of names to choose from if they finally decide to name their second child after a Disney character. But before all this, people were excited about her pregnancy announcement. The NAACP Image Award winner surprised her fans when she posted a photo of herself, her husband and her adorable baby at the 2023 MET Gala.
The 5-frame slide shows different poses of the retired athlete, but the last picture makes the baby look very clear. She wore a sharp Gucci dress with a matching jacket and tulle train underneath and giggled at her husband’s words. Meanwhile, Ohanian opted for a simple tuxedo.
In the caption, to announce the happy news, the expectant mother wrote a happy pun that read, “So excited that Anna Wintour invited the three of us to the Met Gala.”

Fans and loved ones rushed to the comments section to congratulate the soon-to-be mother of two and her family. Her chosen method of revealing her pregnancy surprised a few of them.

Williams Reveals Why She Waited To Share Her Pregnancy News With Her Daughter
As fans know, Williams’ five-year-old daughter Olympia is on track to become a big sister, but to the surprise of many, her mother waited until the last minute to share the great news with the little one.
The mother of one shared a video post on Instagram where she showed behind the scenes of how she prepared to share her pregnancy announcement with the public at a New York fashion show.
In it, too, she stated that she and her lover told Olympia minutes before leaving for the party because the little one might have broadcast the news before she was ready.
Williams said, “The Olympians don’t know now that I’m pregnant, so the big reveal is at the MET. Before we go, I’m going to tell the Olympians.” He continued, “The reason I didn’t tell him was [be]reason; he can’t keep a secret.”
