Seth Rogen Claims Being Child-Free Has ‘Helped’ Him Succeed

Seth Rogen believes that he and his wife’s decision not to have children can be attributed to their success in life and their careers.

Rogen shared that his and his wife’s decision not to have children has had a positive impact on their lives.

During a recent appearance on the “Diary of A CEO” podcast with Steven Bartlett, the “Superbad” star, 40, attributed her success to her decision not to have children.

“That has helped me succeed as well, for sure,” he shared. “There’s one big thing I’m not doing, which is raising kids.”

Rogen went on to say that the choice wasn’t made by accident as he and his wife always discussed it and at the moment, they are “grateful” that they don’t have children.

“Some people want children, some people don’t want children,” he explained. “Honestly, you’re just told, ‘You live your life, you get married, you have kids.’ That’s what happened. And me and my wife, neither of us are like that.”

According to the actor, one benefit of not having children is having the freedom to pursue interests that he and his wife may have.

“Now more than anything, the conversation is like, ‘Honestly, thank God we don’t have kids.’ We can do whatever we want, we are in the prime of our lives,” he said.

The actor continued by listing his many achievements and his wife with children from the picture, noting that he has more free time than his friends and colleagues, who are parents.

“I’m not saying that children don’t bring them joy,” he admitted. “But my wife and I seem to get more active enjoyment out of not having kids than anyone I know seems to get out of having kids.”

In a 2021 interview with Howard Stern, Rogen discussed why he and his wife Lauren decided not to have children. Rogen agrees with Stern’s assertion that he won’t have time to be a good father because of the many projects he’s working on.

“Oh no! Definitely not,” he said. “Or I wouldn’t be able to do all this work that I love. People are always like, ‘How do you do so much?’ The answer was ‘I don’t have children.'”

After revealing that his wife wants kids less than he does, the actor said that it wouldn’t be a deal breaker if she wanted kids and he didn’t.

“No. I think I can wrap my head around it, but he’s like ‘aaahhh nooo,’” she shared. “I don’t know anyone who gets as much happiness from their children as we do from having no children.”

He went on to tell how he and Lauren spent most of their Saturday mornings naked in bed, watching movies and smoking weed, adding that having kids would make this impossible.

“And why? There are enough children out there. Who needs more children? Who looks at the planet right now and thinks, ‘you know what we need? More kings,’ like that would be a thing that confuses me,” he concluded.

Elsewhere in his appearance on the “Diary Of A CEO” podcast with Steven Bartlett, the “Step Brothers” actor weighed in on the anxiety and self-doubt that affects him.

Rogen states that, in his opinion and based on his personal experience, self-doubt hinders everyone involved in creative work to some extent. “For me, it comes in waves,” he said. “If you make something that everyone likes, it gets a little better. If you make something that everyone hates, it gets worse.”

He added, “For me, it’s something that’s there but I try not to let it stop me from doing things that I think are interesting and things that I think I’ll enjoy watching.”

The actor also admitted that the criticism that arose periodically hurt his heart. “Oh yes! Of course, it hurts everyone,” he said. “I think if most critics knew how painful it is for the people who make the things they write about, they would second-guess how they write these things.”
