Sex noises from San Diego massage parlor interrupt church services, lead to prostitution bust: report

Creepy sounds of sex echoing out of a San Diego massage parlor and into a nearby church reportedly prompted a police investigation that led to four arrests and an alleged brothel shower.

Police said last week they fielded numerous complaints from businesses and residents perched near the Ocean Spa Massage Parlor — ranging from reports of the aforementioned noises to locals seeing people having sex in cars, Fox News Digital reported.

The department’s vice unit began an “extensive and comprehensive investigation,” city police said, which involved more than 125 man hours.

During that time, they documented at least four incidents in which employees offered police sex, the outlet said. They also found nearly 1,300 online ads for living room sex posted in the last five years.

Ultimately, four people were arrested for prostitution as the city took legal action to shut down the black business.

The city attorney also levied more than $100,000 in civil penalties and reimbursement for legal costs, Fox said.

“The owners of Ocean Spa have been masquerading as a legitimate business for far too long,” city attorney Mara Elliott said in a press release.

“Ocean Spa is a sex shop – not a massage parlor – and it has no place in our community or anywhere else. We hope to hold these perpetrators accountable and restore peace in the complex.”

City Police Chief David Nisleit added last week that his department “takes neighborhood complaints like this seriously.”

“Our Vice Unit’s thorough investigation into operations at businesses like Ocean Spa is bringing peace and civility back to San Diego neighborhoods,” he wrote.

Parts of Southern California have struggled with prostitution for years, though some locals say a 2022 law repealing the ban on hanging out with the intent to engage in prostitution has made the problem worse.

Supporters say the repeal would protect women and transgender adults from being targeted by police, Fox said.

“While I agree with the intent of the authors, and I signed this law, we must be careful about its implementation,” Democrat Gavin Newsom said as he signed it.

“My administration will monitor crime and prosecution trends for any potential unintended consequences and will act to mitigate any such effects.”

But some business owners think it has emboldened their prostitutes and pimps.

“It’s always been common with massage parlors to offer more than a massage,” says the business owner. “But with [the new law] the whole industry became emboldened because they knew nothing was going to happen.”

“Prostitution has steadily increased,” continued the entrepreneur.

“Pimps know they can flood the streets with more girls, and with the busiest hostel crossing here in San Diego, sex trafficking is out of control.”
