“I paid everything they claimed I owed, even before they filed the lawsuit,” he said Elle magazine. “So as of today, I owe them zero. And finally, I was advised by one of the four largest tax specialist firms in the world, PricewaterhouseCoopers, so I was confident that I did things correctly and transparently from day one.”
Shakira called the Spanish government’s allegations “false accusations,” and she plans to fight the case as a “matter of principle.”
“However, even without evidence to support these fictional claims, as they often do, they have used brazen press campaigns to try to influence the public, and used pressure in the media along with the threat of reputational damage to force a settlement,” he explained.

Shakira added that “the Spanish tax authorities often do this” not only to celebrities but also to “regular taxpayers.”
The Colombian national is also stuck in a recent separation from his partner of almost 12 years.
It’s hard for Shakira to talk about Piqué’s breakup

Piqué has moved in with one of his employees since their June split. Shakira, on the other hand, has kept quiet… on purpose.
“It’s hard to talk about it, especially because I’m still going through it, and because I’m in the public eye and because our breakup wasn’t like a normal breakup,” she said. “So it’s hard not only for me, but also for my children.”

She has worked hard to “protect” her children in the midst of the hustle and bustle of her life.
Reports claim Shakira caught Piqué in bed with another woman and that’s what led to their split, but she says their split was due to their different careers.
They can either move to the US for his music career or stay in Barcelona so Piqué can continue playing football for FC Barcelona.

Shakira Sacrifices Her Career For Gerard Piqué
“One of them had to make that effort and that sacrifice. And I did it. I put my career in second gear, and I came to Spain to support him so he could play [soccer] and won the title. And it is a sacrifice of love,” he said.
Shakira felt like she “had to support” Piqué’s dreams over her own.
“As soon as Milan started school, at the end of 2014, I knew that my constant traveling and nomadic existence had to be put behind me and my career had to be put into second gear,” he explained. “I know that when he starts school, I have to settle down, put down roots in Barcelona and be there for him and for Gerard and then for Sasha as well.”
Shakira declined to share other factors that contributed to their breakup, telling the outlet that they were too “raw and new.”
