The former “Playboy” magazine model took fans down memory lane to 31 years ago with a recent post standing on stage representing Rhode Island. In the photo, the former pageant queen stands next to Dick Clark, and the caption reads:
“In honor of @missriteenusa, I thought I’d post this throwback while I’m @missriteenusa with the great Dick Clark.” She added that he was amazing and it was an honor to be interviewed by him when he was only 16 years old.
Moakler’s post comes after the pageant is just days away, which was announced on their official Instagram page for the 40th Miss USA. The photo contains details about the venue, which will be at the Grand Sierra Resort in Reno, Nevada, and a code for those looking to reserve a room.
The show, produced by The Miss Brand Corporation, under the leadership of Crystle Stewart, chose to use the Grand Sierra for the 40th time to honor the memory of the late Cheslie Kryst and perpetuate his legacy.
Fans will recall that the Miss USA 2019 winner and beauty queen-turned-lawyer died at the age of 30 after committing suicide. Miss USA organizers shared how they plan to honor the late star in the upcoming water pageant.
Stewart, President of the Miss USA Organization, told E! that in 2019, she had the honor and privilege of judging the Miss USA pageant at the Grand Sierra Resort and Spa in Reno “and crowning former Miss USA Cheslie Kryst.”
Adding that they feel to honor his memory and legacy, this year’s event will be held at the same venue; he was also crowned. While this is good news for Reno residents, one person, in particular, fully supports the decision.
Elle Smith, Miss USA 2021, is one of the late lawyer’s close friends who are deeply hurt by his passing. She mentioned that Kryst was an inspiration to her when she competed in beauty pageants and was pleased with the organization’s decision to hold the pageant at her chosen location. He added:
“I witnessed his historic win that night and was inspired to start my competition journey. Although our hearts are still hurting, I feel comforted knowing I can take down this crown and pay my respects to the beautiful Cheslie.”
