Sherri Shepherd has temporarily suspended her talk show after testing positive for COVID-19, just a week into her latest season.
The 56-year-old launched the second season of his talk show on Monday, featuring discussions with musician Jon Batiste and comedians Brad Williams and Michelle Buteau. Prior to her COVID diagnosis, Shepherd’s show was meant to host stand-up comedian Leslie Jones, television personality Julie Chen Moonves and actress Katherine Heigl during its premiere week.
Fans Rejoice With Sherri Shepherd’s COVID-19 Diagnosis
As Hollywood writers and actors are on the picket lines to take part in the ongoing SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes, Shepherd is back hosting her show, “Sherri.” The multi-talented star has now been forced to postpone her plans for a syndicated daytime talk show following her recent diagnosis of COVID-19.
In a note posted to the show’s Instagram page on Wednesday, the comedian shared that he was “absolutely heartbroken” that he “can’t come back to host my show this week.” He added:
“Once I get the all clear from my doctor, I’m looking forward to coming back strong to deliver fun, laughs and a really good time.”

Above its expression, the note emphasized that “the health of our host and the entire staff is of the utmost importance” and that it intends to “return with the original episode as soon as possible.” It also stated that “an encore episode from earlier in the premiere week will air” during the host’s absence.
The news brought his fans in droves, and they made sure they showered him with well wishes in the comments section. While one enthusiastically commented, “What?! Aaw Sherri bless you and your team. May you get well with no proof you were ever sick,” another exclaimed, “Get well soon!!!”
A third Instagram user stated, “Oh no, Sweetie, please take care of you 6. I’m so excited to see you again, but I’m worried one day with your itchy throat. Take care, dear girl. We will wait patiently.”
“I could hear his voice throughout the last two episodes. Looks like he’s fighting a cold. Thank you for trying to survive – get well soon ??,” said a fourth fan. Meanwhile, a fifth joked, “Chyle, it’s them writers and actors attacking people who put a spell on Sherri. They say oh, so you want to go back to your show? okay, cool ???? just kidding. Get Better.”
As playful as it is, that last comment may have some truth to it, as some are offended by Shepherd’s show returning for a second season amid the strike.
The backlash was so strong that the former “The Talk” host opened the premiere episode of “Sherri” with a statement explaining why she’s back. The “One for the Money” star began his monologue by saying:
“Well, I’m a SAG-AFTRA actor, and I actually marched with some of my colleagues while in Los Angeles recently. That’s me with Viola Davis, Niecy Nash.”

He explained that talk shows usually operate under a different union contract code, allowing everyone but the WGA show to return to the screen. After explaining that he writes his jokes and the joke headlines that viewers everywhere see are the result of his creative talent, he elaborates:
“I have a producer who helps me shape my words, which is why we don’t have a WGA writer here on ‘Sherri.’”
‘Trial & Error’ Sitcom Star’s Son Makes Him Proud On His Prom Day
Months before she was forced to take a break from hosting her talk show, Shepherd has been delighting her social media followers with updates on sweet moments with her son, Jeffrey Charles Tarpley Jr.
The “Beauty Shop” star kicked off the look with an image of his baby boy stealing hearts in a black suit, blue tie, matching handkerchief and white shoes.
As well as evidence of the high schooler’s fashion game, the image also highlights her mother’s nurturing side, who is seen gently brushing her hair in one of them.
While his efforts to pamper him resulted in an impressive display, what stood out for Shepherd was how Jeffrey Jr. treat her prom date. The mother of one reflected in the accompanying caption:
“‘Mom, why are you crying? It’s just my prom!’ Watching my son put a corsage on his date’s wrist and help her into the car… wow, I think I’m fine!”
Her sentiments about raising her son were well received by her fans, with many expressing their pride in her parenting skills.
